Leaving the doors of elementary years made her feel like a proper teenager. A teenager that needs to apply the maturity and act as a lady. A teenager that needs to leave all her childish demeanor to please the people that will surround her for four years. After all Jess was born to please everyone around her. She's smart and a loving kid to her parents. She was raised by these two person who taught her to be respectful and God-fearing.

A perfect child. That's her.

She always top all her classes ever since the day she stepped in pre-school. She grew up and learned that being a perfect daughter makes her parents proud. The smile on their faces never fades everytime Jess would receive an award on her school. And it was then Jess realized that she need to keep doing this if it makes her parents happy.

She will do everything just to please her parents.

So the moment she entered the gates of the new phase of her life, she felt the urge to work hard to aim the top.

It was the first day of her freshman year when her friends, Kate and Krista, dragged her out of her noisy classroom and excitedly whispered to her ears, "We've got a cute classmate. You need to see him!"

They giggled as she gave them a confused look but then it was replaced by a soft gasp from Kate. She was beaming as if she saw a beautiful diamond. Jess was so confused on why her friends were acting so strange in this early morning.

"Turn around", Krista whispered, eyes still trained on something or maybe 'someone'. Jess only rolled her eyes before turning around grumpily. Her eyes were met by a crowded hallway that was filled by kids of her age. She let her eyes roamed the sea of laughing kids until her eyes halted on a certain someone. A boy in red shirt and black pants with curly hair and wide smile suddenly made her world stop. Her petite body instantly froze.

"See that boy in red shirt with wild curls?", she heard her friend asked, not even bothered to know if it was Kate or Krista who asked but instead she just nod her head and let her eyes follow the boy's every move, "Well that's him."

Oh.

"What's his name by the way?", she decided to focus on her friends instead because if she won't then maybe her eyes will be forever glued on that boy.

The two shared a look before furrowing their eyebrows, as if they're trying to dig inside their brain to find the boy's name. As Jess patiently wait for them to say something, she can't help but glance for a while to where the curly haired boy talking to his group of friends.

"Aha!" It was Krista. Her sudden shout of excitement nearly made Jess and Kate jump ten feet off the ground. Krista also gained the attention of the kids hanging out on their crowded hallway, one of them was the unnamed curly boy.

Jess was so embarrassed that she timidly smiled to the freshmen students but then two confused but amused eyes literally made her body flushed and her face go red. It was the kid.

They hold each other's gazes until Jess made the move to look away and turn her body so that her back was facing the curly boy.

What's wrong with me? This never happened before. This is so weird.

Jess was mentally asking herself when Krista decided to cut off all of her thoughts, "His name is Sander Hugh Perez."

Sander

She slowly nod her head as she tries to play it cool like it was nothing.

"So...", Krista trailed off and eyed her friend, "What do you think? He's cute, isn't he?"

They both playfully wiggled their eyebrows that made Jess scoffed and rolled her eyes at them. "Yeah he is", she answered them with her bored tone just to show them that Sander didn't matters to her when that's exactly the opposite "So, can I go back to my room now?"

They just groaned and complained how boring Jess is.

She bid them good bye and walked back to her classroom.

Don't look back, Jess.

Three more steps an-

"Oh god," she closed her eyes for a minute, scolding herself for acting weirdly but then she  quickly turned around and blessed her own eyes for what she saw.

There he is, standing in all of his glory listening as to what might be Kate and Krist--

"What the--?", she just groaned and rolled her eyes before turning around and walked inside her classroom.

He's not even that cute.
