Surprise!

Anna's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring crazily. Why do we have to go to school?? And even if we do then why so early? But today's Friday which means tomorrow is Saturday! Schools off! I got up and took a quick shower. I threw on a faded ripped jeans and a black sweater. I put my hair in a bun and let my strands fall off. I packed my books and put on my sneakers. As I headed down, a delicious smell came from the kitchen...bacon...pancakes...which means that... Mom's home!!! I run to kitchen and gave her a big hug.

"Mom!" I squealed. "Don't you have to go to work today?"

"How can I go to work when it's my princess's birthday?"

"Mom it's not today, it's tomorrow." I said with disappointment evident in my voice.

"I know its tomorrow darling. Me and your dad have planned a surprise for you and due to that I had to stay home."

"Really mom? What's the surprise?"

"You would eventually know but not right now. Now off you go or else you'll be late for school."

"Oh yes school! I forgot! Bye mom!"

"Bye honey!"

I got out and walked to the bus stop. Although I had a car and everything it's just that I didn't like to drive. It seemed so...hard.
The bus soon arrived and I got on and sat down on my usual spot besides the window. As I was looking out of the window I saw someone...he looked kind of familiar...no he can't be him. He's not in this town. He isn't back yet I must've seen someone else. It couldn't be him. But I miss him so much. So so much. I wish he would come back. I really wish he would.

Soon we arrived at school. I met my best friends Chloe and Harvey by the gate.

"Hey what's up?" asked Harvey.

"Nothing much..." I replied.

"Let's go inside or else we're gonna be late." said Chloe.

"Yeah I don't want to be late for monster Mackenzie's class or else she'll really kill me this time."

"Yeah let's go."

The rest of the day went by as usual, only a bit longer as I was impatient to know what my surprise gift was. As soon as the bell rang signalling that the school was over I darted towards the gate and was soon out and on my bus. I reached home and went in.

"Mom? I'm back!" I yelled as soon I entered the house.

"Hello sugar pie! How was your day?" She asked.

"It was the same as usual, what did you do all day long?" I asked hoping to get a hint about that surprise.

"Packing." I did not expect such an answer.

"Packing? For what?"

"The surprise we were talking about earlier."

"We're not going for a hike right?" I asked, horrified.

"No! We know how much you hate that."

"Then?" I asked.

"We're going to your dad's farmhouse!"

"Yeah! What a huge surprise!" I said, sarcasm dripping through my voice.

"And guess what?" Said my mother excitedly.

"What?" I asked.

"Your father's friend's family is coming too! We'll be meeting them after such a long time! I think you were ten when you last met them. You were so sad when they were going away." She replied.

"Who is it? I mean what's their name..?" I asked curiously.

"Now that, you'll know tomorrow."

"Mom! That's unfair!" I whined
"No it isn't. Now go and pack your stuff."

I grumpily went up to my room. Why wouldn't she tell me? What if it really is him...
