That morning, BEN came downstairs to an unsettling, yet not surprising sight.
Grabbing an apple mindlessly from the kitchen table, he ignored Masky, whom was standing near him. Masky held his arm awkwardly while chewing something.
"I thought you didn't like apples- or fruit for that matter." Masky said suddenly.
BEN then remembered that this was true, and realized that he must have been trying so hard to ignore Masky that he hadn't realized what he was doing.
He looked at Masky to reply, but his eyes trailed to the purplish marks on Masky's arm.
"I'll be going now, be careful, BEN." With that, the Masked man walked away, still holding his arm. BEN followed him with his eyes, and caught a glimpse of a another similar mark on the back of Masky's neck. He immediately felt bad for staring, and wondered what had happened. He had seen these marks before, but this time they seemed worse."It doesn't hurt that badly. Don't overreact." Masky said. He adjusted his Mask and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I wasn't going to." Jeff replied, no expression in his voice. "So are you going to tell me what happened?"
"I misunderstood something he said... Payed the price for it..."
There was a long silence, but it wasn't awkward, since both Masky and Jeff were in deep thought.
"Fuck... Why are we still here?" Jeff sighed.
"... Why are you still here? You can go, right now. Hell, take BEN with you. I can't go. Nor can Brian. He'll catch us. You guys- you mean nothing to him. He won't chase after you." Masky sat down in the middle of the hallway, his legs giving in.
"He hasn't done anything to me yet- other than yell." Jeff crossed his arms, wondering if Masky was really being too dramatic. His bruises looked awful, Jeff the Killer could not deny it. But if this creature was so evil and cruel to his own proxies, why had Jeff been aloud to stay in the old mansion? Were Masky and Hoodie the only victims..?
Jeff didn't want to be in the same situation as them. But he didn't have anywhere else to go.
"If you do decide escape, Jeff, then don't come back. Slenderman will kill you. This is certain, okay? Just... Do something before it's too late."Jeff wondered to the kitchen to grab some food. He peaked into the fridge.
Nothing much.
There was a large vinegar bottle, some dried up fruit, and more dull looking foods.
"Slender never buys anything edible." Jeff growled, and decided he would eat something later. He turned around, but was surprised to see his friend standing right behind him.
"Nothing good to eat?" Asked BEN.
"No, not really." Jeff was decided to ask BEN a question. "You saw Masky this morning?"
BEN thought that Jeff had probably seen the marks too. He nodded.
Jeff hesitated before saying, "it was Slender."
"I had a feeling he hurt him-"
Jeff cut his friend off. "Keep your voice low." He said between teeth.
"Right." The thought of sleeping in the mansion later made BEN feel uncomfortable.
The topic wasn't mentioned for the rest of the day."And then we.... WAIT WHAT?" BEN looked closer at the computer screen, and a backed up dramatically a moment later. Jeff and BEN both sat in their shared room, entertaining themselves. While BEN was reading stuff on the Internet, Jeff read a book.
"What the fuck are you reading on there?" Jeff looked over to where BEN was sitting on the ground, his eyes wide with disgust.
"What is it?" Jeff asked again.
"Okay, I'll just read this too you. Jeff laid on top of the beautiful sexy BEN Drowned-"
Jeff chuckled. "Hey, aren't I the sexy one in these fanfics?"
"Let me finish. Jeff started grinding on him while moaning-"
Jeff threw a book at him. It just missed the blonde elf-like creature. "Alright, I get it, you're reading Smut by twelve year old girls."
BEN picked up at the book that Jeff threw and looked at it. "Oh, it gets worse. Then Masky came in the room. He was turned on. He grabbed Jeff's ass and then-"
"Kill me." Jeff covered his ears and made a face.
"Twelve year old girls scare me. Hey, what's this book your reading? Wait... Is this...?" BEN made a confused face.
Jeff felt himself flustering. He crossed his arms in agony. "I-It's not... Uh, I didn't realize what is was, I just happened to find it..."
"Ooh, is Jeff the Killer into romance novels?" BEN teased.
"I didn't know what the fuck Twilight was about, okay? I thought it was just vampires killing each other... Bloodbath stuff-"
"Then how come you're three quarters into the novel? You ship Bella and Edward?"
"I only read it for the gore. I skip the romance parts." Jeff brushed some hair over his face. He felt slightly ashamed for reading the best selling novel of Twilight. But the romance was... Inspiring, Jeff thought. He found the characters amusing. And the fact that Edward was a vampire made it better.
"Wow, I didn't think you would like this stuff. You know, since you're a killer, and you don't believe in love at first sight and whatnot..." BEN giggled, and continued to tease Jeff.
"As I said, I only like the gore... Besides I have nothing else to do, so I just thought I may as well see how awful it was." Jeff heard his voice getting higher, and worried that BEN would keep going on about novel.
BEN was still holding the book. His voice neutralized. "I would have never imagined you reading about romance-"
"Okay, we ended the conversation, I get it, stop-"
"No, Jeff, I'm being serious. I thought you literally didn't understand romance. I thought you despised it."
"I don't understand it completely but... I don't literally despise of it. It's just there."
"So are you reading this book to know more about love, or are you just horny for Edward?" BEN couldn't help but smile.
Jeff gave him a look of disgust. "No, I just... Found the book lying around." Jeff finished awkwardly, eager to move onto another subject.
"Whatever you say. So if you kissed someone, you wouldn't feel fuzzy or anything?"
Jeff wanted to stab the Twilight book and burn it.
"I'm a fucking serial killer. No, I wouldn't feel anything."
"Really? Sorry, but you're still human. I doubt it."
Jeff was a little pissed off at this comment. A sudden determination washed over him.
"Fine. Want me to prove that I wouldn't care?"
BEN had turned his attention back to the computer screen. "Sure, go ahead."
Jeff shuffled over to where BEN was sitting. "Put the book down."
This got BEN's attention. "Hmm?" He turned towards Jeff.Jeff placed his lips gently on BEN's, making BEN flinch, but almost naturally, his body relaxed. His mind though, was rushing through a million thoughts an hour. Jeff the Killer... His best friend... Kissing him?
Jeff felt his face going slightly red, but ignored it as best he could. BEN's lips were soft, much to Jeff's surprise, and his own heart fluttered slightly. He decided that this was his instinct kicking in or something stupid like that, nothing more.
Jeff broke the kiss and shuffled not to far away.
"Uh... See? It's just a kiss. It means nothing to me."
"O-Oh..." Was all BEN could reply with. His face was brushed with pink, and his ears were blood red.
"What's wrong?" Jeff asked, trying to act oblivious.
"N-nothing. I wasn't expecting that..." He covered his mouth lightly with his hand.
"Well, I'm kind of tired so..." Jeff crept into his bunk bed, hoping that he hadn't made the night too awkward.
"Wait, Jeff- uh, you didn't have to prove it that way..."
Jeff thought for a moment to make sure his answer wasn't weird.
"It's just a kiss BEN, get over it."
