Much Ado About Mika

"Nice Chap"

MOLLY'S POV

I poke my head around the door,
"What was that about the gargoyle, dear-" my words were cut short by the appearance of the man by the front gate. He was talking to Milo, and playfully knocking his foot about the kerb. I hop down the steps and before I could speak he lifts his head to face me and says "Hi, I'm Mika from next door" I introduce myself to him- the standard way, told him I was Milo's partner. He seems to be a little... Off with me. Still perfectly friendly I assure you, but he just doesn't have the same charm I had seen from the doorway now that we were face to face.
My attention turns to Milo,"Did you say something about that gargoyle?"
He looks at me, dumbfounded, as if what I was saying was alien to him. Eventually it clicked.
"Ah yes! I was just going to ask where you want it". I tell him to put it just inside the front door - I'm quite fond of the old thing. Milo lets out a discrete sigh but quickly turns it into a little tune, to Mika's evident amusement.
"Mika's offered to help us unpack and later he's going to make a traditional Lebanese meal for us and our other neighbour", Milo tells me. We exchange slightly awkward eye-contact and a smile and set to work unloading the final boxes from the van, and wave goodbye to Mike.
*Later*
The three of us are sitting exhausted on the sofa, which had been crumpled and dishevelled on the long journey down. We are sweating and exhausted after hours of moving and repositioning furniture (Me, of course being the picky one who needed EVERYTHING to be in its correct position).
Mika rose suddenly "I best get off, I need to get ingredients - see you at seven". Milo rushes up to let him out, before returning to the old sofa.
He has a smug look on his tired face, I lean over to kiss him on the ear.
"Nice chap", Milo breathes, looking directly ahead at a blank spot on the wall.
"Yeah, he seems friendly", I reply.
