Chase's outfit ^
It had been 6 o'clock when my mom got home, so we didn't get the extra few minutes to touch up our outfits and her makeup, even though she already looked fabulous she was still upset about that.
The drive there wasn't too long, but long enough to wish that she would let me change the radio station from classical music. I could only handle it on short drives.
When we were finally there we parked the car in valet parking. My mom locked her arm onto mine and we walked the small hall way area into the restaurant.
To say it was breath taking was an understatement. It was absolutely amazing.
There where round booth tables connecting to each other through out the whole restaurant, a curved bar to the side which was occupied by mainly old men. Actually, old men seemed to occupy the whole restaurant. Them and my mom were probably the only ones that could afford to even look at this place. I was afraid that if I even touched a chair or glass that I would break it and have to pay millions for it."Table for two for Mrs. Peters?" Asked the lady behind the stand at the front of the palace.
That's what I'll be calling it for now.
My mom just nodded and then followed the waitress to and empty and clean table. She straightened out her pencil skirt and slid into one side of the booth. I motioned to her that I was going to the bathroom as Natalie, it said on her name tag, filled our glasses with water.
I spent a few minutes looking for the bathroom and eventually found it on the far left side of the building. I was about to open the door when another man opened it from inside.
"Oh! Well hello there!" He said cheerfully.
The man probably wasn't a day over 30, 40 at the most, because he still had all of his hair and only a handful were gray. He was looking very handsome in his full tuxedo and deep cheek bones.
"Hi" I said, probably sounding the shyest I've ever been.
He opened the door wider. "Please, after you" he motioned for me to walk in.
I slowly walked forward as I felt his eyes all over me, then, I felt his hand on my behind, but not in a walk-by-slap kinda way, he just stood there and squeezed my booty. I quickly swatted his hand away and coughed awkwardly. The man smirked at me and walked out of the bathroom.
I hurried up and did my business, fearing he'd come back. I almost ran back to my table when I was done.
"This is a beautiful place huh?" My mom nudged my arm and smiled at me as I sat down in the booth.
"It is. It's crazy how we can even afford a water here." I joked swishing the water in my whine glass, still thinking of the bathroom pervert.
"About that" she said turning to me and smiling ear to ear.
"What?" I questioned leaning onto the table.
"I got promoted to head partner in the law firm!" She said while practically squealing with joy.
"Mom that's great!" I chimed "wait...what is that?"
"Basically to put it short, I still do the same thing I'm just on a higher ranking position. I get paid a lot more too" she said before taking a sip of the whine she ordered.
"Wow that's aweso-"
Before I could finish my sentence something, actually someone, caught my eye.
The incident that happened before completely slipping my mind.
I almost threw up my non existent dinner when I saw them.
His arm around her waist.
She was leaning into his side like she was meant to be there.
But she wasn't, that was my spot.
Ashton didn't even notice me staring at them. I noticed the girl from school. She was pretty, I give her that, but she was beyond annoying with her high pitch voice and obviously dyed hair. No one had hair that blonde unless it came out of a bottle.
She wasn't his type.
I was supposed to be his type.
Trying my best to act normal, like my chest wasn't burning and my eyes weren't stinging with tears, I asked my mom about her new promotion until we ordered and our food arrived.
Not once did Ashton look my way.
Did he know I was here? Was he hoping I would see him? And not to be rude but how in the world did he get into a place like this?
Finally, it was time to go. Which meant walking in Ashton's direction. I stood up calmly, wishing my nausea would go away. I still had tears threatening to fall down my cheeks. The lump on my throat was getting bigger and I was starting to fear I would accidentally let out a choked sob.
I did my best to not look at him, but I looked.
And when we made eye contact, one single tear rolled down my cheek and I knew he saw it.
