Gumball
Normally I looked forward to going to school, but today I didn't. I didn't even want to get out of bed this morning. This was all just because I knew I would have to suffer another day without having Marshall by my side. Not as my enemy, but as my boyfriend.
Pulling the collar of my sweater up closer to my chin, I bustled through my first period door to see that Marshall was hovering over his seat. My palms began to sweat as I knew that I would once again have to walk past him to get to my desk.
I jumped when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around quickly, I saw a smiling Cake. She had one of those devious smiles plastered on her face.
"What ya doing, lover boy?" She sang and sauntered around me. That evil blush warned me of it's presence. Cake giggled and flopped down into her chair. Ducking my head, I rushed past Marshall to sit down in my chair. For the rest of that class, I kept my head ducked.
Lunch time came around all too quickly. Fionna came and slammed her tray down on the table across from me. I looked up from my salad and was greeted by the unhappy face of Fionna.
"What the glob?" She said, eyes filled with anger. "Why did you leave so quickly yesterday?" I cringed away from her slightly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked innocently. Her face looked ever more angrier now.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about." Fionna growled, grabbing my wrists and pulled me up to where I could feel her breath on my face. "You ditched me yesterday after telling me that you like Marshall. Why?"
I sighed and told her that I was all freaked out thinking that Cake was right. That Marshall probably did hear me. The entire time Fionna's face slowly began to relax and once I was done explaining, there was a comforting smile on her face.
"Oh, Gumball." Fionna chuckled slightly, placing her hand on mine. "Marshall probably didn't hear you. Besides, by what I've seen in his eyes, he probably likes you back."
"I, uh. . Gotta go." I pushed away from the table and ran out of the cafeteria. Not even stopping once out of there, I ran out to the front of the school. I leaned against the wall and slid down to where I was sitting against it, burying my face into my hands. Salty tears fell down my cheeks in waterfalls into my palms.
How long I sat there, who knew? All I know I was sitting there long enough that lunch was over and about two class periods passed. I didn't move from that exact spot, and position, at all. That was until I heard someone moving around near me.
Jerking my head up, I saw Marshall walking, more like floating, around. His bass positioned in his hands and he was slowly strumming some chords. He must have felt my eyes on him because he immediately snapped his head in my direction. Eyes widening, he slowly moved towards me.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked once close enough. I felt that evil blush slowly creep up to my cheeks and I started to wipe away the already dried tears to hide it.
"I don't know. I needed time to think." I said quietly. Marshall floated down to where he was sitting cross-legged in front of me. Slowly reaching out, he cupped my cheek with his hand.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He asked, eyes full of concern and worry.
Without answering him, I leaned forward. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to tell him, but not with words. No. Leaning closer I did the one thing I never expected I would get the chance to do.
I gently placed my lips on his and kissed Marshall.
Marshall
Gumball pressed his lips against mine. My eyes widened for a second, then slowly closed them, kissing him back. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I pulled him closer onto my lap. A small moan escaped his lips.
"Aww. Well, it's about." Fionna said, causing me and Gumball to jump apart. A blush crept up into my cheeks, as well as Gumball's. Cake sauntered out from behind Fionna and walked around us, tail slowly wrapping around me and Gumball. She tried pulling us closer together but I fought against her.
"Now, now. Don't think we didn't see you two lover boys making out." Cake winked then walked back over to Fionna, who was having a giggle fit. I scoffed and stood up, holding my hand out to Gumball. He hesitated for a second then grasped it. I pulled him up and told him to hang on.
Pushing off the ground, I sent both of us soaring into the sky. Fionna and Cake were staring up at us as I flew us away from the school. By now, all of our classmates were bustling around on their ways home or where ever they went after school.
"Where are we going?" Gumball asked. His hands slowly began to untense from my shoulders as he got more comfortable up here. I smirked and looked at him.
"Well, where do you want to go?"
