I open my eyes to find that I am standing in the middle of the street. All the buildings around me and all the shops are closed. There are no cars passing by and no one to see.
A dark overcast of mist enveloped the street which looked like it went on for miles.
"Over there!"
I'm dizzy. It feels like I've just woken up from a dream.
"I know you might be confused at the moment, but you can trust me."
I can hear the voice in the distance, one I've never heard.
Why is it asking me to trust it?
Why am I walking towards it?
"Everything's going to be fine! Just follow my voice."
Every nerve in my body is flummoxed. But the air around me gravitates to the sound and my feet can't fight the wind.
"This is good! Keep walking!"
The voice seems farther now, as if it moved towards the path i was following.
"Keep following me!"
The voice, now a bit faded yells. But this time it doesn't come back for a while.
After a few minutes, I hear the voice again.
"Don't worry, just keep following. And don't stop!"
I let out a sigh of relief and the perplexity in my nerves ensues when I wonder why i was ever relieved in the first place.
I hear the voice again after what felt like almost an hour.
This was the last time it talked to me. Or perhaps the last time I heard.
"Remember, keep going!"
And the faded voice drifts away at that and all I am left with are closed shops and empty buildings as I walk down the even emptier street.

She's been in the same bed for quite a while now. But I know she hears me. I hope she does.
"It's okay, everything's going to be fine. Just keep fighting, just keep going."
