Vincent's POV

I look up at Victoria's abrupt news and give her a wary look, a frown prominent on my face, "What?"

"Jeydon is gone, I lost him at that night club."

Massaging my temple I tried to keep calm, "What do you mean you lost him?"

"Exactly what I meant."

God damn it all! After he confesses to me and gets me all riled up, he up and leaves me? Did he really take me as a fool?

"When was the last time you saw him?"

"I last saw him chatting up some bartender..."

"Who was he?" I glared.

"I don't know but he was a brunette with golden eyes."

"Zane Eisenhart." My lips formed the words before I could actually understand what I was saying.

"Who is he?"

"He's a respectable man unfortunately..." I muttered to myself.

"Then he's in safe hands... There's nothing to worry about, so why is it unfortunate?" Her gaze pierces through me and I hesitate.

"Is there something going on between you and Jeydon? I mean you did cancel the engagement..."

"No I'm pretty sure there's nothing going on."

"So why did you cancel the engagement?" She asked suspiciously.

"I didn't want to marry her..."

"I can't find a reason why you wouldn't want to marry her..."

"You don't know it, but there's quite a few..." I said wearily massaging my temple.

"I feel like you're trying to find flaws with her..."

The frustration was gnawing, I tried to keep my voice leveled as I spoke, "Victoria, out of everybody, I expected you to be the most understanding one of all after all these years we've known each other..."

Hurt was obvious on her face even if it only lasted a flicker of a second. She turns her back on me and storms out, the harsh whisper, "I'm sorry," lingering behind causing the tension between us to be thick.

I fell back onto my bed exasperated. Maybe I was a bit too harsh with her... But it was the first time seeing her like that in a while, we would never quarrel and when we did it was over small stuff and we'd get mad at each other, but of course it wasn't so dramatic and we'd laugh it off and reconcile. But this time was different, she was actually hurt, and I was the one that hurt her, so of course I felt bad.

Everything was so messed up right now. I couldn't help but let out a breathless and anything but a humorous laugh. My other fiancee turns out to be a psycho in disguise. She had actually killed the little bastard Theo and offered up his head to me, I was sickened of the thought. Then there was Jeydon screwing around with my feelings leaving me all muddled. Next I was fighting with my closest friend Victoria.

I hoped that the bastard from upstairs was enjoying himself... My phone vibrates receiving a message from the council and I head out trying to clear out my head with a nice stroll breathing in the crisp cool air.

I claim my usual seat at the round table and wait for anybody to speak up as to why we're all gathered here.

Someone finally clears his throat and all eyes are immediately focused on him. It was Frederick, a middle aged looking man with thinning hair.

"As you have all known we've sent out a search party for the king Rueben for many decades now and finally we have located him."

My fists clenched underneath the desk. After so many years the bastard has finally resurfaced.
