Rose

"Why do you want to talk with me? Do you even know me?" I asked.

"Because why not. And no probably not." He said.

"Who are you?" I asked him again.

"My name is Mason, and yours?"

I debated if is should tell him. I don't know any Mason. He's a stranger! Why should I tell him.

"You didn't hang up on me did you?" He said, I could hear sadness in his voice, not much but I could hear it.

"No, I didn't." I told him.

"Okay, good." He laughed some. "Are you going to tell me your name?" He asked.

"Are you a murder?" I questioned him.

He laughed. "No, but that is what a murder would say, isn't it?"

I laughed some. "Yes, probably." I sighed and gave in. "My name is Rose." I figured what is he going to find out with only knowing my first name.

He didn't say anything for a minute, I heard some rustling around and then I heard him talk. "I saved your number." Is he planning on calling me again? "That's a pretty name."

"Uh, thanks." I blushed some. What? Why am I blushing? "So what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked him.

He paused. "Well, I'm not really sure."

"So, you just called a random number for a random reason?" I laughed some.

"Yeah, pretty much." He chuckled. "Shit!" I heard him hiss and some more rustling.

"What just happened?"

"I hit my foot off my desk." He whined. I couldn't help but laugh. "Hey! Don't laugh, that really hurt!" He cried out.

But I only laughed more. "I'm sorry! It's funny."

He laughed too. "Not for me."

And that was the ice breaker. We talked until midnight. Not about ourselves but about random things.

"It's late I should really go," I told Mason and he whined.

"Really? Darn. It was fun talking to you."

I bite my bottom lip and tried not to blush. What is wrong with me, I don't even know this guy.

"I'm sorry, but I had a long day and I'm really tired," I told him trying to remember what happened today.

"Is everything okay?" He asked.

"What?"

"It seems like something happened today, what was it?" How'd he know that? Did I sound sad or something.

"Maybe some other time, I have to go," I said and was about to hang up when he started talking.

"So you don't mind me calling you tomorrow to chat again?"

I paused for a second. Does he really want to talk to me again tomorrow?

"Um...Sure...I guess," I told him.

"Okay, okay you don't have to beg me." He laughed and I join in.

"Alright, I'll talk to you later I guess."

"Talk to you soon." He said and I hung up.

I laid down on my bed and put my phone and my chest. I felt a smile creep up on my face.

What has gotten into me?

I picked up my phone and slowly clicked on his number and typed in his name. I hesitated but I clicked save.
