Dean rushed over to Cas' side, making sure he didn't hit the floor. Instead of hitting the floor he hit Dean. Dean could tell he was hurt, but he didn't care as long as Cas was okay. He wasn't sure why he cared so much; he barely knew the guy, but he felt some kind of connection to him almost as if they were soulmates.
--
Castiel opened his eyes, well he thought he did, but alas he didn't see anything. Black.
"Dean?"
"I'm here."
"Dean, why can't I see anything?" Cas inquired.
"What happened?"
Cas started to panic! This couldn't be happening, not to him of all people.
"Eli threw a pop rock at you, and it exploded at the base of your neck. It must've...."
Dean didn't want to say it, he couldn't say it.
.."It must've caused you to go blind"
---
3 weeks later and Cas was still adjusting to the darkness, still he missed gazing into Dean'ѕ eyes. Dean had become a sort of bodyguard for Cas, always by his side. Dean wanted nothing more than for, by some miracle, Cas to regain his vision.
Dean grew to love how chewed on his pencil when he was thinking and how he would adjust his tie when he was nervous. Although Dean was always afraid Cas would end up choking himself.
Cas mindlessly fiddled with his tie and Dean grasped Cas' hands, and with the other he swiftly straightend his tie.
"What's wrong?
Dean ruffled Cas's hair. Dean was worried about him, he had been so withdrawn lately.
"I don't even know if I'm mad at Eli anymore, if he had not done what he did I would've never met you."
"And losing my vision for any length of time is worth it."
----
Later that night Dean thought about what Cas had said, and he found that he could no longer hold a grudge against Eli, no matter how much he wanted though hurt him after what he'd done to Cas.
