OLIVIA KINGSCOTE - LINCOLN , NEBRASKA
~~ sneaking out the back door , make no sound~~
♫ = R.I.P. TO MY YOUTH // THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
I held my breath as my grandma slowly put dinner onto the dinner. I looked into her eyes , her trying to be her usual smiley self. I really did adore her but she did have her downs. She (well , me aswell) lived in this big victorian house with mostly everything vintage except technology I brought with me. I remember the first day I moved here , the house reminding me of "That 70's Show". Well what did you expect from an 11 year old? The only family to take care of you , a grandma which is overly religious and probably wont let you do anything.
I looked at the whole chicken , my stomach grumbling a bit more as she put a plate infront of me. The candles lit in the middle gave a bit more of a calming atmosphere. I got more impatient by the moment as she opened FOX news and Donald Trump came onto the screen. God , I hope that guy doesn't win.
'Are you excited about scchool tomorrow?' She said finally sitting down and cutting the chicken into pieces. I looked at the floral tablecloth trying to ignore her question.
'Uh not really. I mean its school..' I faded out , putting my hand on my chin to support my face as she put food onto my plate. I literally was like a little kid waiting for her to say grace so we could just eat.
'Oh Olivia...I hope you do finish high school and get into a good college... I dont want you to be one of those singers we see on tv , shaking their bums. Oh heavens no.' She said softly as I examined her skin. She was rather yound for a grandma at the age of 55. I smiled slightly as I quickly remembered the time she caught me watching the 2013 VMAS. She extended her hand towards me to say grace , squeezing my hand so I would close my eyes.
'Dear Lord , we thank you for this delicious food we are about to eat. Olivia and I are so grateful for your love and all that you have given us. Lord help Olivia get a good score on the SATS so she can go to a good college. And Lord , please help Abigail have a better mental state. May Abraham Thompson rest in peace. Amen.' She nearly yelled while praying and it made me not like it even more. Even when she talked about my grandpa , Abraham , it felt like she didn't miss him at all.
'Look grannie , I told you this before. Nothing wrong with showing your bod-' I referred to the subject before she said grace as she slammed her fist onto the table.
'We will not fight over this again.' She said calmly as I looked onto her blankly , deciding not to talk about the subject ever again with her. She was really weird and sort of Bipolar. She would reflect angry actions but talk very sweetly and calming.
'So Gabriella's having her birthday party tonight and I'm gonna go to it.' I said coldly as she stared onto me. I didn't even ask for permission which I was regretting a bit , guilt taking over.
'When is it?' She said , raising her thin eyebrow. She cut the chicken into pieces before eating the rice.
'At 8. Probably finishes at 11 or..' I tried to continue , her nasally voice butting in like always.
'No. No going out past 7. You know that. No more talking about this subject.' She said raising her fork into the air , Donald Trump's screeching voice echoing through the dinning room. I looked at the tv on the wall as he was saying something about Mexicans again , making my blood boil.
