Chapter 10:
We run. Just run. Forever it seems.
The moon shines bright, lighting up the woods. We trip on branches and rocks, busting our knees, but keep running. It seems endless.
We must be sure.
My jeans are ripped everywhere when we stop. My hair is knotty, and shirt ripped right over my stomach. Scratches and cuts cover our arms and legs. We look homeless. But we are.
"I think we are good." Cole says, panting.
I wipe sweat off my forehead.
"How long have we been running?" I ask, sitting on a nearby rock.
"I don't know." Cole sits next to me, catching his breaths. We breathe in sinc, until our heart rates go down.
We begin to walk restlessly. For an hour, we walk, holding hands, occasional questions.
We find a field covered in flowers.not reminds me of Twilight. But this one was much more beautiful.
Cole lays down, as tired as I am. I lay my head on his shoulder, shivering. His arm wraps over me like a blanket, and I fall asleep quickly.

The bright sun shines in my eyes, waking me up. I sit up, and look at Cole. He is cuddled up in a ball. I smile and kiss his cheek lightly.
The moment is disturbed when my stomach growls. I haven't eaten in hours, and my belly was going crazy.
Hoping Cole doesn't wake, I wander back into the woods.
Mom told me once of a tree which the bark you can eat. I spot one, and pick off chunks of it. It smells amazing, but in a natural way.
I chew on it and gag. Its disgusting, but in a few minutes I'm full.
I rip off a few more pieces for Cole, and continue my walk, hoping to find water. My throat was as dry as a desert.
After walking for about five minutes, I hear the sound of running water. Following it, I come across a small creek. I wet my hands and wipe my face. Cupping my hands tightly, I drink some. It doesn't taste like bottled water at all, but I keep drinking. I didn't care.
Humming to myself, I stroll back to the field.
I gasp when Cole isn't there. I turn around when I hear a branch break.
"Where the hell did you go?" Cole says angrily.
I hold up the tree bark.
"I got some food. And I found a creek for water."
He shakes his head. "You should have woke me up. I was worried."
I smile to myself.
I kiss him. But not one of those short pecks. I kiss him for a long time. Longer than ever. Its a meaningful kiss. Like telling him how I feel by the movement of my lips. He kisses back, passionately. He lowers us to the ground, and we continue.
Just a little farther than Twilight.
