Chapter 2: And a little something else...
The time is 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon and Linda (the lady I’m babysitting for) is due back home in an hour or so soon. As for Grace and I, we are both getting on quite well. I suppose it just took some time for her to get to know me better. I think what also helped is that we both love one direction; (you know the hottest boy band on the planet. According to Grace and most other Directioners) which help a lot otherwise she probably would still have that attitude towards me.
Right now we are just chilling out in front of the television watching God know what because Grace is flicking through the channels that fast I can’t see what’s on. As for baby Hope, she is fast asleep in her day bed which doesn’t sound that bad, I’m quite tiered too now from looking after too handfuls of fun all day. The lounge room was quite dark a lot like my lounge room, in fact a lot like my whole house, dark and creepy.
‘There’s nothing on.’ Grace complained before switching the TV off throwing the remote on to the sofa next to her.
‘Well how about you pick out a movie while I go into the kitchen and make us some popcorn’ I ask her, checking the time on my phone once again. 3:15.
‘Yeah ok but we have a problem Stef. Mum hasn’t bought any popcorn for us.’
‘Lucky I’m here, I bought some with me. Now pick out a good movie.’ I say with hoping she picks up the word good in good movie.
‘Yeah yeah now make us some popcorn!!’
I walk into the kitchen to grab my cross body bag and take out the microwave popcorn I had bought for this special occasion. I un-wrap the plastic wrapper and place our snack in the microwave setting the timer for the time needed to cook the food. I walk back into the lounge room to find Grace had taken just about every DVD in the entire house out spread all around her on the floor.
‘I really want to watch my favorite one direction documentary but I can’t find it anywhere’ Ha I wonder why?
‘What’s it called Grace? Maybe I can help you find it if I know the name of…’ I nearly finished my sentence when Grace broke in.
‘Found it! Found it!’ It was under the cushion.’ She said with relief. She sure loved one direction, but you can’t blame her they’re amazing and I would do anything to see them perform later this week.
Beep, beep, beep.
‘Ok put it on and I will get our snack.’ I say hearing the microwave ring its head off. (Not literallyJ)
I race over and take the piping hot popcorn out and lay them on the counter top to cool of for a bit.
‘Movies ready!’ I hear Grace yell from the other room with excitement.
‘Be there in one minuet.’ I pour our hot snack into a large white bowl and take it out into the lounge room and place it on the coffee table in the center of the room. I drag the coffee table a little closer to us and take a single piece of popped corn. Yum. Nothing better watching movies on a rainy, wet day.
Its about a few minuets threw the movie and I take out my phone to check the time. The time is 4:00 o’clock so Linda would be home very soon. I start to hear Hope crying from her little day bed, I hop up from my comfy spot on the sofa and tend to her needs. I pick little Hope up and rock her from side to side in my arms as she stops sobbing.
I walk back over to the lounge and sit back next to Grace still carrying the little one comforting her and keeping her warm. I could hear what I think is a car door being shut and keys jingling, trying to open the front door.
‘Knock, knock, knock. I’m home did you all miss me?’ I hear a familiar voice say from the hallway around the corner.
‘Yay mums home.’ Grace jumps up to great her mother with a hug. (More like a tackle)
‘Oph! Look out hun. So you did miss me then?’Linda steady’s herself before attacking Grace with kisses.
‘How did you go Stephanie, they weren’t too much trouble?’ She laughs as I hand Hope over to her.
‘No not a trouble at all, they were on there best behavior.’ I say smiling at Grace who is standing at her mother feet.
‘That’s great. Now to discuss payment for you wonderful job today.’
‘Oh ok cash will do just fine.’ I start to wonder what she meant.
‘Yeah cash and a little something else, Grace can you take you sister into the lounge and you can watch the end of you movie.’ Linda hand baby Hope over to Grace as she walks over to the sofa. What does Linda mean by and a little something else?
I follow Linda into the kitchen and sit next to her at the dinning table wondering what is going on?
‘Now, I hope you like one direction, because I have a little something for you and one of you friends.’ OMG don’t tell me she’s got what I think she’s got.
‘I had bought my niece some one direction tickets about a month ago but she had gotten herself sick with the flu and can’t go, so I was wondering as payment would you like to take these two tickets to this up-coming weekend performance? I will still pay you cash as well but you can take these tickets too because they are only going to waste if nobody takes them.’
I was frozen, Linda has two double passes in her hands right now, and she was giving them to ME! What do I do, take them and go with my best friend to the Sydney entertainment center. But I don’t want to be mean and say no and turn them down. What the hell do I do?
--------------------------------------------------
Wow that was a long chapter! What do you think? Will Stephanie take the tickets or leave them behind? Comment on what do you think she will do. I want to read your thought (< not creepy at all) or better comment your thoughts haha.
Sorry for leave you hanging, sort of, but i needed to end the chapter somewhere so why not here?.
Please Comment/fan/vote. Directioners forever whoa!! (< I don't know where that came from?)
Thank you for being yourselves!! xoxo
