-Road Trip-

-Alex's POV-

We are on the road and already everyone's kind of bored out of their minds, no surprise.

"So, Jason, your father?" Chris' dad ask, glancing into the rare-view mirror looking back at Jason.

Jason lifts his eyebrows and removes his arms from the top of our seats, "my dad?"

He huffs, "still the same sweet hearted man, living the dream. Still going strong, huh?"

Jason nods, "they say, sooner or later, I'll be taking the business over."

There's a slight hint of pain in his voice.

"Well you have expectations to meet my boy, his food is perfect not to mention the design of the restaurant, god perfection!" He grins.

Jason, a chef? You must be kidding me.

"So you want to be a chef?" I ask with suspicion.

He shrugs, "it runs in the family so I guess I have to."

I scoff.

Everyone looks at me with questioned looks.

I mustn't be the only sane one here.

"I mean, if you want to be a chef then congrats, well done you are finding who you truly are out but if your dad wants you to be a chef, that's a different story. It doesn't matter if you want to be a chef or be a stripper, either way it's up to you to decide because you have to live knowing that you're going to have this job for the rest of your life and you might as well make it worth something." I scowl to myself.

Before anyone gets the chance to speak, I pounce again.

"I mean! My father left, my mother ran away but hey, I'm still here! And why? I don't idealise my parents for the fact that they did that, they ran away from their troubles, god knows why, but I'm not choosing to follow in their footsteps if it means always running away and breaking people because I stick to promises and I have some dignity left inside me."

My face flushes red with the slight hint of an adrenaline rush.

I notice everyone is smirking or either trying to hold a grin back.

That's when someone speaks.

"Hey, you never mentioned to us about your relationship much?" Cassie asks.

I glance over to Chris's dad for help but he just has a smug grin on his face.

"Well, let's just say, they're keeping me sane. At this very moment in life, I'm lucky to have them." I grin.

"So what's their name?" Charles asks.

"Chris." I say slowly.

"Cute name." Cassie choruses.

A cute name for a cute guy.

"How did you meet?" David asks.

"School, with my other best friend Ross." I say.

"How is he?" Cassie asks, "Ross?"

"He's one of the most caring guys, an arse but caring." I laugh.

"That's friends for you!" Cassie laughs.

"Yeah but their different." I breathe out slowly and chuckle to myself.

"Would you say it's, love?" Charles asks quietly.

I look out the window and grin, "I think it is."

"Loves a fantastic thing, break it, bend it, play around with it, be it, use it, love it, hate, it's natural. And it's an arsehole." Charles laughing through some sort of pain, "love shouldn't be abused or forced. It should come naturally."

Everyone stays silent until Charles speaks again, "but hey, it's not as bad as it used to be. Isn't that right Jason?"

He hand lands smack centre of his thigh causing a loud slapping sound.

Jason's eyes move to Charles hand to his face, "exactly right Charles."

The tension in this car is unbelievably high.

"Hey look! That's exactly what I need! Some snacks and a hot drink!" Trott's dad exclaims draining the tension.

It's a shop on the side of the road. Looks decent enough.

He pulls over and we all get out.
