I was running.
He looked straight into my eyes and smiled.
"Come here sunshine."
He pulled me into a hug and I was flying.
Our faces were close, my heart pounding in my chest.
BEEP!

My eyes open, my body twisting in the covers.
"Wake up!" Madison calls from the hallway.
"I am!" I call back.
My eyes catch the silver phone on my nightstand and I reach for it in pure laziness.
"Nope! Get ready and then the phones all yours." My mother tells me, walking in the take it from my grasp.
"Mommmmm." I groan.
"Don't "mom" me."
I slam my face back into the pillow.
"I want you down for breakfast in 5."

I enter the crowded halls of high-school and walk straight for my locker.
Along the way, my close friend Jessica runs to my side.
"Heyyyyyy." She calls, emphasizing on the y.
"Heyyyyy!" I reply back, giving her a high-five.
"How's Grayson?" I asked.
"He's fine, our one month anniversary is coming up this weekend." She sang.
I laugh, approaching my locker and swiping my fingers across the spiral dial which unlocks the rusty metal.
I grab my binders and get ready for first block.
"Come on."

The bell rang, causing me to leave my land of rainbows and sunshine.
"Remember, the homework is page 73 in the journal!" My math teacher called to us and we rushed out the door.
I reach my locker after pushing through a couple of people.
"Hello!" Aaron called.
"Hi muffin."
"How are you sugarcane."
I laugh and he opens the metal locker beside me.
We pull our things and I hear the tale of how Aaron got his crush to talk to him.
He was a secret gay, but still spoke loudly about how hot the nipples were on Jack Gilinsky.
"Aaron. Stop your five." I told, followed by a giggle.
He smiled, but turned shocked.
He hid behind me and Jack walked by along with Nash and Cameron.
"Did he see me?" He whispered.
"By the way you grabbed me, he probably thought I was being assaulted and didn't care."
He giggled and threw his arm around my shoulder as we left the school.
I enter the bright sunlight and take in the fresh air.
"Over here!" Jessica called.
I walk over, watching her continue to make out with Grayson.
Ethan laughed along with Jack.
"Hello Kayleigh." Ethan said, walking over.
Aaron took his arm off and let Ethan wrap his arm around my shoulder.
"I like this outfit."
"It's my moms jacket by the way." I told him as he picked the fuzzy's off of it.
"Come on, let's go home." Jack called, pulling Gray's lips off of Jessica's.

"Hi baby!" I called to my puppy as she raced towards me.
I pick him up, kissing her small head.
I turn around looking at the jeep that Ethan and Grayson were in.
"Thanks for the ride!" I called.
"No problem!" They called back.
I close the mahogany door behind me.
I place Lavender down and set my backpack on the stool.
"MOM!" I yell through the hall.
"I'm in the kitchen!" She calls back.
I enter to the smell of cheese pizza.
"My favorite?"
"You got it."
I smile and turn back to grab my homework.
"Might as well get this done."

My eyes open, squinting at the sudden light in my room.
Lavenders ears perk up, looking at the light.
I pick up the phone, as it continuously vibrated and answered the call.
"Kay-Kayleigh?" A voice cried through the speaker.
That woke me up.
"Ethan?" I asked through the phone.
"Ye-Yeah."
"Are you okay?"
I stood up in bed, Lavender had picked herself up.
She approached me on her tiny feet and sniffed my covers.
"I-I had a nightmare."
"Do you want me to come over?"
"N-No." He sniffled and continued.
"I just needed to hear your voice."
I felt my heart melt, a smile creeping into my face.
"I'm here." I whisper to him.
"Okay."
