Harry grabbed my hand and we ran. I was starting to feel faint again, but I didn't want to say anything. The world flew past us quickly, but I could still hear those creatures. The farther we ran, the blurrier everything became. "Ha- Harry." I managed to get out.

He looked at me, and for a second I could see a worried expression. That was quickly replaced with an expressionless look.

"Shh, we have lost them for now. We should arrive at our destination soon." He explained.

The rest of our run was silent. I zoned out until we had stopped at an eerie looking cave. It had looked a little too familiar...

"Harry, what are we doing here?" I asked politely, mustering up as much strength as I could, as I was feeling weaker every second. I felt a sudden surge of pain in my stomach, and I winced.

"Alexandra, don't hate me. I am sorry, but we have to. This is the only way to help-"

"Harry!" I cut him off, still wincing while grabbing my side. For a second my vision had changed, and all I had seen was black and white.

Harry rushed to my side and had searched my eyes for something. "We are at your father's... He's the only one who can save you. If we don't do this, you will die in a few hours." Harry finished quietly.

I tried to stand, but failed. I mustered up all of my remaining strength. "Harry, I can't." I said. He picked me up and I started weakly slamming my fists against his chest. "I'm sorry." He whispered. I finally gave up, rested my head against his shoulder, and passed out.

"Halt! Who goes there? This is land of the King- None shall trespass." A small, but dangerous looking man stopped him.

"I was sent to find the princess- she has been poisoned by one of the kings, and hasn't got much time. She needs her father." Harry replied.

The man squinted at him, then to me, the passed out girl in the boy's arms. He hesitated, then let us into a dark hall.

Harry walked until he reached a door. He opened it to a massive room that had no lights or windows, yet we could both see. There was a man sitting in what looked like a throne in the center of the room.

Harry knelt down and bowed in front of it. "King, I don't mean to intrude, but I have brought the princess. She needs to be healed." Harry said while standing up.

"Could it be? Boy, what has happened to my daughter?" The man asked.

"I know for a fact that your men had been sent to capture her. One of them had poisoned her, and I believe it was to make sure she would return for the throne." Harry answered.

"I may be a vampire, but I would not harm my daughter to bring her here. I wanted her to choose her destiny, not have it chosen. It is the eve of her eighteenth, is it not?" The man claiming to be my father asked while stepping down from his throne. I hadn't noticed that while they had been talking, about a million people had came into the once-empty room.

They had fangs, glowing red eyes, and for the first time I had realized that they were all naked, except for the shreds that were strategically placed to cover any, well, "Junk". If there is anything worse than seeing your vampire dad for the first time in years, it's seeing him NAKED.

The vampires started closing in on us, and they were hissing. "Ramses, your people." Harry said coldly.

My dad looked at them, then to me, then he waved his hand at them. "Disperse." He told them. They backed off a little bit, but not much.

My dad bent over next to me to examine the scratch. "This was definitely one of my people, but I didn't send them, I swear. This will not take much time to heal, but we must get out of here. My people are thirsty, and I fear that they want Alexandra." My father said.

Harry put my arm around his shoulder and followed my father to another strangely familiar-yet-unfamiliar room. They layed me down on the floor and I felt the pain in my side again. My father slapped my hand away from my side and began chanting some foreign language.

Harry grabbed my hand and held it tightly as my father continued chanting. My body tensed as I felt even more pain than before. I gritted my teeth and held in a scream. As soon as it had started, it stopped. I could feel the poison leaving my body and I exhaled.

"Alexandra, dear, are you feeling fine?" My father asked. I sat up, and realised that I didn't feel weak anymore. I nodded and shared a quick smile with Harry and my dad.

My father's smile quickly faded. He started looking sort of guilty. "Dad- what?" I asked, wanting an answer.

"I'm sorry, it was the only way to save y-" I cut him off.

"What is happening? Give me a full explanation, now!" I demanded. Harry took this as a sign to leave the room. I could feel my magic boiling up inside of me.

He raised his hands up in defeat. "The healing spell only works on vampires, so I had to put a welcoming spell on you. It welcomes the vampire in you, so you are now beginning to bloom into a- vampire. Well, half of one, at least." He said.

"You turned me into.. One of them?!" I asked furiously.

"I saved you. Now you can do what you were born to do- take the throne as vampire princess!" He said happily.

"If I am so important, why did your people try to eat me?" I asked.

"The blood of a dhampir is nearly impossible for a vampire to resist." He said it like it was a normal thing to say.

"Dhampir?" I repeated, still in shock that all of this was happening.

"Half-vampire, half-human." He replied.

"I know, but I'm also half-witch... So what does that make me?" I asked.

"Irresistible." My father answers.

"But- how? Why?" I asked.

"I can resist you because I don't feel like sucking my daughter dry." He said nonchalantly. That was probably the creepiest thing that a father could say.

"But-" I started.

"Frankly, I don't even understand how Harry can stand being near you." He added.

"You're wrong, Harry isn't like you!" I defended my lifelong friend.

"Oh, but isn't he? He is exactly like us, dear. Even more like us then some of us are, I'm afraid." He said. He grimaced before I could even contemplate punching him. His eyes seemed to change from brown to glowing red, but the room was poorly lit so I wasn't sure. Harry entered the room a second later.

"Ramses, your people are out of control!" He said.

"Harry, get her out of here. You must train her, soon. Promise me that you'll keep her safe, and tell her the truth. Don't bring her back here until I get over my-er- 'hunger' spell." He stopped and his fangs shot out of his mouth. "Go!" He screamed.

Harry grabbed my hand and we started running. Vampires began popping out of anywhere, and they seemed to be everywhere.

We managed to get past them, even past the guards. We kept running for hours.

"Alexandra?" I heard from the right of me.

"Yeah?"

"You can stop running, we're here. You are going to train here tomorrow. We're safe now." He said that, and I didn't know if I should've believed him, but I did anyway.

"Happy birthday, by the way." He added.
