"What- what do you mean?" I asked, feeling a little lightheaded.
"You- you've turned, haven't you..." she said quietly.
I glanced down and saw Harry still lying on the ground.
I mentally spazzed a bit, then quickly tried to find his heartbeat. Do vampires have heartbeats?
It was very faint, but it was there.
"Mom, you have to help me! Please! Harry we're losing him!" I pleaded.
She seemed to dismiss the thought as she started leaving with the other witches.
"If you walk away now, you will have a war upon you. I swear it." I threatened coldly.
She stopped and slightly turned towards me. The vampires all just stood there, as if they were waiting for me to tell them what to do.
"So be it." She replied then turned away and kept walking.
This woman was not my mother, not anymore.
"Anastasia!" I screamed at her.
The next thing that happened took even me by surprise. The evil vampires from the woods made an awful noise, then began leaping out of trees and attacking. I thought we were going to all die, when I realized the witches had stayed back to fight the bad vampires.
This wasn't just my fight, it was our fight now.
Yet everyone was acting like it was everyone for themselves.
Harry was still slipping, further and further away. The good vampires were forming a wall between us and the bad ones, protecting us. They were getting closer, when the witches started using spells and zapping the bad vampires halfway to the moon.
My mom leaned down by me and whispered into my ear.
"Take him, quickly, to the Northern border of the woods. There they will heal him, if it's possible. Now go!" She ordered.
I got up with Harry, ran as fast as I could, and didn't look back. When I arrived, nobody even asked who I was or why I was there. I was into the healthcare unit in an instant.
I didn't expect to see Viktoria there.
Somebody tried to take Harry from me, but I told them I had to stay with him. Everything after that began to blur, and I was torn away from him. Several bodies held on to me. I began screaming and thrashing, and Viktoria calmed me down. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground, sobbing. She settled me down enough, then left. When she came back, I didn't even want to ask. I didn't have to.
"He needs a blood transfusion. He's lost a lot, and really, is lucky to not be gone yet..." She said quietly.
"But he'll be okay, right?" I asked full of hope. I felt guilty enough, considering I'm the one that took all of his blood.
She waited a bit to answer. As soon as she bit her lip, I could tell something was wrong.
"Alex, we don't have blood for... his type..." She said.
"What the hell is a mystical magical hospital for if it doesn't carry everything that mystical freaking creatures need to survive?" I asked angrily. I needed to calm myself down.
Viktoria laid a hand on my arm to comfort me.
"Alex, I'm sorry." She told me.
I almost started crying again, when I realized that I was his "type".
"You do have his type! Mine! Take mine! He needs it more than I do, I have more than I need!" I tried to explain. She hesitated, then gave me a sad look while sticking her hand out to lead me to his room.
"I guess we could try." She said.
Next thing I knew, I was attached to a machine again, losing more and more blood. I don't even know how long it was until I fell asleep.
Sometime later, I woke up right next to Harry. Less than a second after I remembered where I was, he woke up screaming.
I grabbed him and pulled him into a hug, trying to settle him down. He spazzed out at first, then he.. smelled me?
"Lexi?" He asked hopefully.
"Yes, Harry. It's okay. Everything's okay now." I said softly.
He pulled me closer, then froze.
"How is this possible... I'm dead... I should be dead..." He said sounding shocked and confused.
"No, you aren't. You almost were, but you aren't." I told him trying to help him make sense of things.
"But I gave you all of my blood..." He said quietly, still confused.
"Let's just put it this way. You needed some blood. I had some, you needed some. Understand?" I explained it, almost exactly like he had once explained this to me before.
"Lex... do you understand what you have done?" He asked with a concerned look on his face after pulling away from the hug.
"Um, I believe I just saved your life." I replied while having my own confused look on my face.
"We have shared blood... mixed blood now." He said, as if I should've known that already.
"Yeah? You gave me blood before, I don't see how this is any different." I said.
"Yes, but now you gave me yours... I am just a half blood, and you are a princess of the North, aka the princess of all of our kind... when two half bloods mix blood it's dangerous enough, but because you're royalty, and I'm not, that will certainly stir up things. Also, because we-"
"Harry," I interrupted him. "Get to the point."
"Alright... Alexandra, you and I are... About to cause a ton of problems." He finished quickly.
"You could've just said that." I said while rolling my eyes.
"I'm not finished. Alexandra Ramses, you and I are engaged." He said quietly.
I just stared at him. "You're joking, right?" I asked. He had to be. He never even proposed!
"'Tis true. Vampire customs, I'm afraid. I bled for you, and even though you weren't forced to, you bled for me. That is the sign of true and undying love for vampires. Also, we pretty much sealed the deal, considering that both of your parents were there and led to this." He explained.
"What? My father wasn't there-" I began, when I remembered that he was the one to turn me into a vampire in the first place.
"So babe, where would you like to begin our never ending life together? Or rather, eternity?" He asked with a smile.
Wow. Even when this boy had recently been on his death bed, he was still his silly self.
"Don't look at me. You're now practically a prince by association, so I can dump all of my problems on you." I said with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, one more thing. we should get out of here." He said. Before I could ask why, I heard an alarm go off. He grabbed my hand and dragged me out and away from the building, and we weren't seen by anyone.
