“Princess? Are you ready?” Bailey calls me out of my trance. I was staring around my room for the very last time. I took in everything; the giant four-poster bed, the beautiful views of the ocean, my small study in the corner, all the pictures and paintings, including every little knickknack I own.

“Yes Bailey, I’m ready. But I’m not the Princess anymore; I’m Becca, Becca Jacobs from… Where am I from again?” I ask setting one of my two suitcases down near the door to the room.

“Ohio. Cleveland, Ohio. It’s in America, dear” The maid tells me and I nod, remembering the place.

I reach into my back pocket and grab out the two envelopes I spent all week writing. One addressed to my parents, the other to Chelsea. Both letters state that I’m leaving the castle and the crown behind to become the person I wish to be. I told them to not come looking for me, I will come back when I’m ready and when I wish too.

Sighing I stuffed the envelops into the back of the jeans I recently acquired and followed Bailey out of the room and down the castle corridors. I stopped twice. Once in Chelsea’s room; kissing my baby sister on the forehead one last time and leaving the letter propped up on her bedside table. Secondly, in my parents’ room. I set the letter on the work desk my mother spends seventy-five percent on after kissing them both upon the cheek.

When I close the double wooden doors to my parents’ room I sigh. This is going to be a lot harder than I originally thought but there is no going back now. I smile at Bailey who was standing in the corridor with my two suitcases. I pick one up as she picks up the other and we quietly make our way to the kitchen where the staff entrance is.

Once we are in Bailey’s small car we are off to the small airport on the other end of the island. All the while I’m staring out the back window, watching as the castle grew farther and farther away. When it’s completely out of sight I turn back around and watch as the road winds.

The entire ride Bailey never talked, neither did I. I didn’t know what to talk about so I kept my mouth shut. The only time she spoke was when we reached the small airport.

“Okay, when you get there you will be met by a ‘Gemma’.  She will have a sign saying ‘Becca Jacobs’. You are to go to her. She is my niece. I already spoke to her and she is more than welcome to have you stay with her. Now, here are your passport, birth certificate, and a sack of gold. As soon as you get there Gemma will take you to the nearest bank to exchange this into pounds. Gemma is the only one who knows your true identity.”

“Gemma? Okay. I’ll be sure to look for her. Thank you again Bailey, I don’t know what I would do without you” I say with a sad smile as I wrap my arms around her.

“It’s no trouble at all dear. Now go before you miss your flight. Make sure you write” Bailey tells me once we released each other.

“I will, oh, and Bailey?” I ask and she looks questioningly at me. “I love you.”

“I love you, too. Now get going. Don’t want to be late” She tells me her voice cracking, tears threatening to fall.

I sniff and smile as I pick up my two suitcases and make my way to the small building. When I reach the doors I turn around to see Bailey wiping her eyes, leaning against her car. I send her a small wave which she returns along with a smile.

“Hello, I’m here for a flight? To London it’s to be leaving at 2:45 AM I believe” I say with a small smile to the woman behind the counter.

“I just need to see your passport and ticket and then you have to head over to customs” The woman says with a smile. I place the little blue booklet on the counter along with the ticket and she checks it over. Before notime I’m standing behind a businessman in the customs line waiting for my bag to be checked.
