I'm not really sure why I haven't even tried to show Lily that I'm the slightest bit interested in her. Every time she comes over, we go upstairs, we work, then she leaves. Nothing more, nothing less. Why? Oh yeah. I'm a total nerd and she probably is repulsed by the idea of even thinking about liking me. I want to show her I like her, but how? I know! I'll give her flowers! Girls like flowers right? Yeah, they like flowers. Flowers and chocolates.

I don't want to come off as a cliche'. Maybe I should invest in something much bigger than flowers and chocolates. Yeah! Blake Matthews, you have a brilliant mind my friend. I thought to my self. I need to show her I like her without freaking her out. I need to drop sublte hints. Wait, I thought. Isn't that the girls job? Maybe it works both ways? I need help!

I stopped thinking about that for a mintue and went down stairs to see what was for dinner. I love my mom's cooking. I told her she should try out for a show on The Food Network, but she said she coouldn't leave us here by ourselfs to cook. Mostly because everytime my dad tries to cook he burns it. One time he actually caught the pot on fire. I think it's the funniest thing I've ever seen, but mom disagrees with me.

I peeked into the kitchen to see if she had even started dinner yet. She was at the stove with her apron on, but I didn't smell anything. I walked in.

"Hey mom. What's for dinner?" I asked very casually.

"Oh! Blake, you scared me. Uhm, I think we're going out tonight." She said. She had a nervous and scared expression on her face.

"Uh, okay. Are you okay, mom?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just go get dressed and we'll leave once you're father get's home."

"Okay." I didn't want to ask her why we were going out on a Wednesday, but it did seem odd. I walked up the stairs and into my room. I pulled my closet open and took a look. I had some nice dress shirts, but I never really wore them. I also had all my t-shirts. I grabbed a purple dress shirt and some khaki pants. I pulled on some black socks and a pair of black dress shoes. I wonder where we're going. I went back down stairs to see if this was too dressy.

"Hey mom. Is this okay?" I asked, kind of nervous.

"Yeah hunny. That's fine. Your dad's not going to be able to come with us so it's just going to be us. Okay?" She replied with an anxious look on her face.

"OKay. That's fine." They had been fighting for a couple days now. I wonder what's going to happen. Oh well. I thought. I'm getting fed so it's okay for now. I waited for my mom to get ready. It took her longer than usual.

"Hey mom? Are you ready yet?" I said as i peeped my head in her room.

"Yeah. I am." She came out of her bathroom with a beautiful black dress on. Not too short, not too long. It was perfect for her.

"Mom. You look amazing."

"Awh.  Thanks hunny. You all ready to go?"

"Yeah I am." We got into the car and I noticed dad's car wasn't even here. Do I want to know? I asked myself. No I don't. The car there was quite. I mean, I didn't expect her to spiil her guts to me, but a little convorsation. When we got to the resturaunt, I was surprised to see who was walking right before us. Lily Miller. She looked beautiful. She had on the sundress she wore on the first day of school, her long hair was down and curly and her dress just made hr eyes look amazing. My mom must have noticed me staring at her because she bumped me with her arm.

"Notice the two extra chairs?" She asked me with a smile on her face.

"Are you serious? We're eating with them? I thought you said it was just going to be us!"

"Well it was, but before I said that I had called Tiffany ans asked if they wanted to eat with us. It's going to be so much fun!"

What had my mother done? I can stand the thought of being with her at school and at my house, but eating dinner with her? It's almost like a date! The only thing is we have four wheels too many. I don't think I'm ready for this!

"You're going to be fine Blake." My mom said just before we came into Lily's earshot.

I gulped. Does she know she's eating with me? What will she do if she doesn't know? What should I do? All of these things were running thought my mind as I sat down beside my mother. Tiffany had already realized we were here and offered a hello to me and my mother. Then, Lily looked over. She didn't seem mad or sad, she just seemed, surprised.

"Oh, Blake, I didn't know we were going to eat with you and your mom." Lily said. She didn't have a mad tone or anything like that, but then again, she didn't exactly have a smile on her face either. I didin't know what to think.

"That makes two of us." I said casually as the waiter came up to the table to ask us what we wanted to drink. I looked over at Lil's glass. She had water. "I'll just have water with a lemon wedge in it." I nonchilauntly told him. No one seemed to notice me talking to him so I just continued to play with my napkin. This was going to be a long night.
