Worst idea of all time. We were going to a lake. I could've let her be a lonely girl on the bottom of the ocean, but she put a trance on me and made me go. Charming girls are to be afraid of. Sarah glanced at me and smiled. She sat down and made me sit down too., The blankets were already on the soft green grass and she opened up the satisfying lunch. This was getting kind of nerve racking;, the picnic set up, tea still hot in the thermos, the swish of the water fall, and Sarah, delicately picking up a grape and popping it into her mouth. Her hair shone in the bright light. I was getting very embarrassed. My face got as red as crimson blood. It was very quiet. All you could hear were Sarah's grape crunching in her mouth, and the rush of the water fall. My cookies must be stale now. "It's nice isn't it?" asked Sarah still staring at the waterfall. How did I get here? I asked myself.
"Sure..." I replied. It was very bland but that's all I can do. Try to be myself, I said. I was about to leave, until I saw Sarah offering me the best cookies in our town. How did she get them? They are always sold out, even I can't get them. I lifted my hand and grabbed a cookie. I didn't dare eat like a pig. I took a little nibble. She smiled again. I swear I saw a halo around her head. An angel! I attempted a smile, but since I have never smiled before I probably looked like a fat boar baring my teeth. Sarah laughed! I blushed flushed red. "T-thanks, I don't know how you got these cookies." I said thanks! For the first time ever! It felt good to say something nice. How come I never said thanks in my life before Sarah?
"Girls have their way around cookies and sweets." She replied giggling. I regret trying to harm this nice angel girl. "Friendship."
"What?"
"Friends, we must be friends! This is what friends do. I hope you have a good time here. Next we'll climb, climb the tallest hill, but to get there, we must find a way to go through the water. I hope you brought a towel! You might need it to dry yourself off." Her eyes glittered in the blinding light.
My heart seemed to be cleansed. The old Jacques was not there anymore! I hope it stays like that.
"No, I didn't bring towels." My face turned unhappy. But all Sarah did was grab her pack, and gave me a towel. It smelled like freshly baked cookies. We packed up the picnic, and we both said "Race you there!"
We ran down the steep hill making sure not to harm ourselves or each other. Sarah splashed through the freezing water as I screeched feeling the bitter cold on my toes. Sand played zig – zag through my toes and out the other side. Sarah cupped her hand and flew water in the air, making rainbows in the sun. Dialogue didn't need to be involved, only our emotions and actions gave meaning. Fun, laughter, friendship, acceptance, living and jokes. Sarah was a miracle. But that soon ended for the sun went to bed and the clouds turned dark. Time flew faster than I thought. We raced home saying 'bye!' and 'see you tomorrow!'
I reached my house gasping. I made it safe and sound. "Where were you?!" screamed the butler and maid. I smiled laughing and giggling just like Sarah. Her emotions are contagious. The butler and maid looked at each other, their mouths curling at the tips forming a smile then a laugh. "Dear Jacques! You seem to be having a great time out there!" and the butler handed me some cookies and milk, my second favorite friends now.
"Thanks!" I said grabbing the cookies.
The astonished butler and maid once again looked at each other, grabbing my hands and exclaimed "Oh Jacques! What happened? Oh the gods must be smiling down at us!"
I couldn't wait for tomorrow. Seeing Sarah again at my school. Dinner came and went. I sat at the table, wishing everyone a good dinner, saying thanks to the cook and ate everything, even my least favorite dish; fish on an egg. I sauntered down the hall, up to my room and waved good night to the maids, butlers and cooks. 100 rooms, 17 maids and butlers, 10 cooks, and one happy boy. That was me., My life changed in a good way., My heart was filled, and I knew people cared about me now. My sleep was restless. I tossed and turned, imagined the fresh baked cookies float into my mouth and makes my mouth water. The smell tantalizes me as grapes laugh and crunch. It was all what had happened when I was at the picnic with Sarah. By the time I knew it, it was morning. I flipped down the stairs and danced to the table.
