The Commander-in-chief Suresh Gadhavi sat in the middle of the fortress, poring over documents regarding the new recruitment of soldiers and where they would be sent. The table and chair were the only pieces of furniture in the room, the rest having been taken for resources.
Despite the apparent opulence of the fortress' outside, the inside was bare, everything that wasn't necessary having been taken long ago. The previous prime minister having been removed from office after having shown sever incompetence after the invasion began, leaving Gadhavi, a decorated general and respected soldier, in the best position to be elected in his place.
Since then he had worked his best to ensure the safety of his people and to fend off the Locusts, and that included giving up his own luxuries, something that he actively encouraged of his followers as well.
The tapping of boots on solid stone floor drew his attention to the squad that was jogging towards him. The doors had been taken out of the room as well, leaving him a clear view of the corridor that led out to the courtyard.
"Commander, there is a Medcore carrier approaching the fort," the lead soldier exclaimed. The soldiers' khaki fatigues contrasted with the dull grey stone that surrounded them, and their faces were cast in shadow by the solitary light that hung above the doorway.
"Why have they not been shot down already?" Gadhavi asked tartly, crossing his arms. The squad stopped in front of him, where they all saluted him crisply before beginning to lead him out into the courtyard.
"They claimed that they had civilians on board from various nationalities, including Indian, Sir," the soldier stated as they walked at a brisk pace. "We believed that it would be unwise to call them out on that bluff especially as they intended to land here rather than simply fly over." Despite his age, Gadhavi always walked at the same pace as the other soldiers, never showing any signs of weakness. In this day and age if a leader was to show weakness, then the population would become weak. Countries had fallen because of weak leaders, and he would never let his people befall the same tragedy.
The group stopped at the entrance to the courtyard, watching the large carrier slowly lower down to the ground. Other squads began to join them, each taking cover, raising their weapons when the landing ramp began to lower. Slowly, they could see the light blue armour of a Knight descending, followed by another of black and gold. While the first was unfamiliar to Gadhavi, the sight of the second caused his face to contort into one of absolute anger.
A shot rang out, then the ting as a round hit the flat part of Cyan's blade, flying off into the distance. He and Komedy looked out towards the Commander-In-Chief of the Indian military, holding out a pistol, absolutely livid with fury. Cyan withdrew his blade from in front of Komedy's heart, sheathing it and looking at the man evenly.
"You dare come here?" Gadhavi snarled angrily, stalking forwards. Now that he wasn't hurrying his limp began to show again. For some reason the pain only seemed to be apparent when he wasn't rushing, the other reason that he mostly did. "After all you did to my men?"
"Don't you mean all your men did to me?" Komedy returned, his hands flicking down to the two chakrams at his side. "I mean, they bled all over me, I reckon their screams gave me mild tinnitus, and don't even get me started on how much they dulled my blades."
"Stop antagonising him," Cyan growled stepping down the ramp and walking forwards. "I won't block the next round." Komedy stuck up the middle finger at his back before joining him at the bottom of the ramp. "We were telling the truth though, there are over a hundred people in there, men, women, children."
