Chapter Three:
My alarm woke me at 6 AM, I knew the girls won't wake up at that time but that gave me awhile to figure out what to do. I stepped out of bed and the girls were all laying on each other in the full size bed in the room. I stood up and went to what little luggage I packed for all of us. I hurried to get dressed and slapped my hair into a ponytail. Where am I supposed to go? My parents won't take us in I know they won't, and I would go to my brother but I have no idea if he's home and I wouldn't like to just show up. But what choice do I have?
I awoken the kids and got them dressed. "Where are we going?" Lyla asked. I shrugged, "Uncle Mike." All three of their faces lit up in excitement. "I love Uncle Mike, he's cool." Avery said looking at the food menu. "Well that's good," I said taking the menu out of her hands, "Now get dressed girls, we need a head start." They all groaned and did as I told. While they were getting dressed I realized that I only had $93 dollars left. "I'm hungry mommy." McKenzie said, walking over in an outfit picked by Lilac. "I know, we're about to leave soon don't worry." Avery and Lyla walk over ready to go.
We check out of the "hotel" and take the next bus to my brother's house. Luckily I called earlier and he's actually home for the next two weeks. The whole bus ride was dreadful, it smelled like pure feet and sweat and there was a creepy man staring at us the whole ride. At one point he actually tried to flirt with me. "Mom are we there yet?" McKenzie asked in a whiny tone. "Almost." I reply slightly irritated. We've been on this bus for God knows how long and I was getting very frustrated. The bus stopped at one of the streets and started letting on new people, as they were walking on I noticed on person in particular. Matthew was there. I grabbed the girls as quickly as possible before he could notice us but I was too late. The second we saw me he started running towards us. Luckily, I managed to grab the girls and our stuff and get off the bus. "Was that dad?!" Avery asked out of breath. I just nodded trying to catch my breath as well as the rest of us. "Why are we running from him?" Lyla asked. "Don't worry about lets just focus on getting to uncle's house." and with that we waited for the next bus to take us downtown.
