So I know I've been away for a bit but I had writer's block on this. But I'm back and this is a kind of long chapter (8 pages on MS Word for my computer) so yeah. Anyway. I hope you enjoy it :)

Chapter 18

Nicole

I raked a hand through my hair. This was ridiculous. Leaving me a fucking jail cell over the night. “Nicole?”

“Oh hello, Hannah. Great to see you. I’m afraid I can’t come out right now because your brother abandoned me here,” I snapped angrily.

“Nicole, please don’t be such a drama queen. It’s not his fault. Our parents won’t give us the money until morning. They say you deserve this. And Chase and I kind of agree,” she shrugged.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. “I was ‘being a teenager’,” I replied making air quotations.

“That’s no excuse, Nicole. You know that,” Hannah shook her head. “I’ll see you in the morning. Mom and Dad were right, you definitely need some time to think and a cell is the perfect place to do that.” With that she walked off, her heels clicking as she went.

I slapped my hands to my head in frustration. This was ridiculous. Yeah, what I did was wrong and stupid but...still. I shouldn’t have to spend an entire night in a cold, stupid jail cell. I could hear my phone ringing from where my stuff sat at the front desk. A few minutes later Chase walked back holding it. “It’s Natalie.”

I walked to the bars and grabbed the phone from his grip. “Hello?”

“What the hell got into you, Nicole?” was Natalie’s greeting.

“Well, hello to you to, Natty,” I said sarcastically.

“Shut up and answer me, Nicole,” she snapped.

I sighed loudly. “I was bored and wanted to have some fun. I decided to hang out with this group of guys and girls around our age and well…shit happens.”

“Nicole, you got arrested! Do you even realize how dumb this is?” Natalie asked.

I rolled my eyes at her. “You’re being such a hypocrite here, Natalie. You’ve been caught doing some of this stuff too. You have no room to talk.”

“Yeah, but you’re not me, Nicole. You’re you. I can’t be me if you’re trying to be me.”

“I’m ‘exploring my options,’ ‘trying to find myself,’ and shit like that,” I told her.

“Well explore somewhere else,” Natalie snapped. “I just wanted to call to check on you but Liza and Magnus are right, you deserve to sit in there for a night. I’ll see you in the morning when you get home.” With the last sentence the line went dead.

I scoffed. Who was she to say those things to me? My eyes moved back to Chase, who stood there with his hands shoved into his jean’s pockets.

“I need to take your phone back to the front. You aren’t allowed to have it back here,” he said after a few moments of silence.

“Right,” I nodded. I shoved my phone back through the cold bars. As I was turning away Chase grabbed my hand.

“Nicole, can I have you back?” he asked me.
