Chapter 3
It was peaceful in the darkness, the wasteland didn’t matter, food or water didn’t matter, it was just dark, and peaceful. As Hope’s mind drifted within her subconscious she recalled the events of the first day; the day this whole nightmare began. She was just out, as usual, roaming the city, taking it all in. She had no guardian with her, her parents were dead, she had never found out how they died. Just that they had died before they’d given her a name. She was just turning a corner, when suddenly the people around her started pointing towards the sky. She looked up just in time to see a huge ball of fire collide with an office skyscraper. The following explosion was cataclysmic. As pieces of burning glass and charred concrete rained onto the streets below a few people began to look as if they were choking. “What’s going on Lena?” She asked
“We’re leaving, apparently things have all gone to hell, and my mother just rang me on the landline and told me to get out of the city ASAP. So that’s what I’m doing” she replied quickly.
Hope simply nodded. She was just wishing she had a mother to boss her around, and knew Lena would never defy her parents if they asked something as serious as this. As they reached the edge of the city they saw it; their first cleaver. She was wearing a black dress, which was marked with red liquids. Her pump shoes were covered in stuck pieces of flesh. She was a blonde lady; not that there was anything ladylike left about her. Blood was pouring down her chin and as she grinned, she showed even bloodier teeth. She was clutching something that looked like a bloody rope; but as soon as she saw it Hope immediately knew what it was. The woman charged towards her, Hope screamed and screwed her eyes shut...
