"I will never let you fall,
I'll stand up with you forever."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dabbing at the corner of her eyes, Kitty sighed, her head resting on her knees. She hadn't meant to have a breakdown, and luckily, no-one had been around to witness it. All she really wanted to do was talk to her best friend, but she wasn't sure how Eden was feeling. And a smack to the face was definitely not what Kitty needed at that moment.
"You know," a familiar voice rang in Kitty's ears and she felt that certain someone rest against her shoulder, "I met someone today who said there was a pretty blonde having a breakdown, under the gazebo, in the rain."
"And you just assumed it was me?" Kitty asked, not removing her forehead from her knees.
"I kinda expected you to start crying at some point." She could feel Eden's shoulders shrugging against her own, and she knew she had a smug look sat on her face. "Anyway, no-one else would be out in this shitstorm."
"Thanks." Kitty sniffed and threw her head up. She looked at Eden, with a frown on her lips. "You don't give in this easily." Eden should have been screaming in her face, promising some sort of physical violence. Her eyes should have been burning with rage, steaming coming out of her ears and nose like a cartoon person but instead she saw none of that. Her best friend was calm, with a worried look in her eyes. Her head was cocked to the side slightly. Luckily, Eden wasn't one for pity. And if she did pity you, then it was bad.
"Yeah, well, you're my best friend." Eden gave a knowing smile. "You're the exception to the rule."
It took Kitty a few moments to realise just what Eden was implying. When she finally figured it out, her hand lightly slapped Eden's arm. "You hate that film!"
"Did you want me to say that you have a lovely personality?" A faint smile lingered on Eden's cheeks.
"It's a wonderful personality, you llama." Kitty sighed, letting a short laugh fall from her lips. She'd never admit it, but Eden knew all the words – including the soundtrack – to Corpse's Bride. Her (very secret) guilty pleasure. "I like the maggot though."
"Everyone does."
"So, who told you I was here? Since – and I quote – "no-one else would be in this shitstorm"?"
"Micah's sister. Clara."
"Micah has a sister?" Kitty frowned. "You know, Gabriel has a brother."
"You wouldn't know that if we were back home." Eden pointed out, and Kitty nodded. "So what's his name?"
"He didn't say." The raw memories of that conversation came back and hit her like a train. Gulping and blinking back tears, she directed the conversation away from a certain alpha. "So how did you meet... Clara, is it?"
"Works in the library. But we met when I went out with the guys last night." Eden said, and Kitty gave another nod. "She's pretty cool. Actually, most of them are." Eden smiled, looking as if she was reminiscing the past night. "You know, once they get over the 'I'm so frightened' phase."
"Thought you had training this morning?"
"I did – did you not see the shiner on Micah?" Kitty shook her head, her damp locks sweeping over her face. "I got him good."
"You managed to up a beta?" Kitty smiled, proudly. She loved Micah but he was of a higher position than Eden. And the fact she'd managed to hit him hard enough to leave a mark made her proud. But then again, Eden was always a good fighter. Unlike Kitty, who's co-ordination was terrible. It had been improved dramatically thanks to training from Jordan (and sometimes Eden, who'd instigate a fight).
