"On a journey through my head, I stumble on a mess;
Where bad things from my past are buried, not dead."

She glanced around her, stopping for a breath. She knew she was running – but who from? No-one sprung to mind - or maybe it was Katie? Alone, she treaded forward carefully scanning the woods enclosing her. These were Gabriel's woods! Putting her nose in the air, she tried to sniff out any threats or try and figure just how far she'd ran. Nothing came to her; not a single scent – she couldn't even smell the dog violets, or the honeysuckles that were trapped in the wet mud. What was happening to her?
A growl broke through her concentration – it was low and threatening. Pivoting on one foot, she saw bright amber eyes glowing in the darkness. A long snarl accompanied it and Kitty took a step back, stumbling on an unseen tree root. There was no pain as she fell to the ground, no sharp pain that zapped up her spine. Something wasn't right – but she couldn't think about it. Out from the curtain of darkness, the wolf stepped out slowly stalking towards her.
Light brown shaggy fur bristled in the wind and Kitty pushed herself back, her bottom never leaving the ground. Whimpers escaped from her mouth, and a fear that like she'd never felt before filled her body. She didn't recognise the wolf that was almost looming over her – but it wasn't rogue. It couldn't be. How could it have gotten past all the guards? She was deep in Gabriel's territory! If she were on the outskirts of his territory she would have expected to see intruders...
The wolf bared its teeth and with a small yelp, she forced herself off the ground and sprinted away. The thundering ground told her that her chaser wasn't far behind and deep in her heart, Kitty knew she couldn't outrun a fully grown werewolf. Not when she wasn't one herself. The only reason she would survive a little longer than a human was because she had partial skills of a werewolf.
Trees blurred past, becoming one, and soon she broke through into a clearing. Her feet skidded to a stop when she saw a tiny ball of fur in the clearing. A baby wolf, unattended, was unheard of. Shifting before puberty was unheard of – but somehow she knew this was a werewolf. Something cracked behind her, and turning her head, she witnessed a girl a couple of years older than her step out. Ugly anger clouded what would be a perfectly angelic face. But before either could say anything, snapping and ripping noises filled the clearing.
Looking to the source of the noise, she found a small child instead of a pup. One that looked exactly like a miniature version of Brandon... but it couldn't be. Brandon had only told her that Jessica was only a couple of weeks pregnant.
"You are the reason my baby will grow to have no father." She heard Jessica's voice, which sounded as if she was speaking from a distance, say to her.
Kitty opened her mouth, but no words came out. This time, not even a simple whimper. It was if something was lodged in her throat, restricting her from saying anything.
"You are why I am alone – why I lost my mate!" Her voice was getting louder, the rage clearer than ever, and Kitty trembled. She was rooted to the spot. But where could she run? She did not recognise where she was – and she couldn't scent anything out. Whatever was happening to her, had left her vulnerable. "You don't deserve happiness. You don't deserve anything!"
Jessica stalked forward, her lips set into a hard line. Her eyes narrowed. Her body shook all over, and Kitty was frozen in place.
"I'm going to make you suffer, like you've made me suffer!" And as she shifted in mid-air, Kitty let out a blood-curdling scream as the wolf descended upon her.
