Discovering Tragedy

I think I would be able to tell my family. They would want to know anyways, but I'm not so sure now. I ponder this as I get closer to my home, something doesn't feel right. I stop to glance around and sniff the air. My nose twitches at one smell in particular, but I'm not sure what it is exactly. I follow my nose just to be sure and it leads me to an abandoned shack on the far side of our property.

I don't ever recall this shack being here, but it looks like it's been here for decades. Either way I approach it cautiously, making sure there is no one else around. The smell that I had noticed before is a lot more stronger here, and that's when I realize what that smell actually is.

Elf.

But why would an elf shack be on our territory? This doesn't add up and doesn't even make any sense. First my brother goes missing then Tim finds his journal. I find the tag and the rock, but also a shack that I've never seen before.

For some reason, I'm curious as to what would have been in here besides elves, what they tried to hide from us. They probably had a Mage put a spell around it to hide it from prying eyes. Well whatever they did to hide this, I'm going to find out.

I inch closer to the shack and continue my watch for signs of life. Finding none once again I stick my head inside the doorway and take my first look inside. The main room looks like chaos of broken glass, books, and loose paper, but I know that if this was hidden then this must be a disguise to ward of intruders. Almost as quickly as I think this the guise goes away, revealing a room with couches and desks. The color scheme of the walls and furniture reminds me of calm waters, all serene like.

Inching my way in, I see a desk near the door that has a few loose papers on it and I lean down to get a better look at them; the papers contain a lot of names, most of which that I recognize as most of my neighbors. One of the names has a circle around it with a side note that says "Info on war".

The name is my own. Xavier Stellward.

I don't realize that I've backed up until I bump into a chair, making it hit the table behind it and rock a glass side to side. Luckily the glass doesn't spill and I release my breath slowly. Only now do I realize that there are multiple pictures of me and my brother taken without us noticing over the years. On the far wall is a whole list of things about my brother, one of which that stands out in big, red block letter.

Underneath it in not as big of print are words that I never want to see again.
