Chapter 2-Awkward Beginnings

Rosalie's POV
I avoided my mate for the rest of the day. What else could I do? Walk up to her and say "Hi, my name is Rosalie Hale and you're my mate. I'm looking forward to being with you forever."? I'm pretty sure she would have thought I was absolutely insane if I had done that.

Alice keeps telling me to just talk to her, but, I don't know what to say. However, I've done some snooping and I found out she's new to Forks. And her name is Bella. It means beautiful in Italian. It's perfect for her. I was distracted in class, not that it mattered I knew everything the teacher was covering anyways. Perks of living forever was pulling straight A's because I knew all the material.

Bella's POV
All through the day I kept thinking about a blonde with golden eyes. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I couldn't stop thinking about her. I knew that I was gay. I told my Mom and she was fine with it. But Charlie doesn't know and I'm not sure how he'd feel about it. I don't even know why I'm freaking out about this. It's not like I've even spoken to the girl. Besides when our eyes met she scowled at me. I'm in the middle of texting my ex girlfriend from Arizona when I crash into something hard and land flat on my ass! "Sorry!" I say looking up. Oh shit! It's her! I expect her to tell me to watch where I'm going or ignore me altogether. Instead she reaches down and helps me up. I swallow thickly being this close to her. She smells so good! Like cinnamon and some sort of flower.

Rosalie's POV

It's as if the universe is trying to push us together. I'm still holding onto her hand and our eyes are locked. Her pulse has picked up quite a bit. She smells good. Like sandalwood and honeysuckle. Delicious. She smells delicious. "Hi..." I finally say. "H-hi." She stutters. Aww, how cute I make her nervous! "So, you're the new girl?" I say adding a mega watt grin. "Yeah, I'm my name is Bella. Bella Swan." She says. I listen as her heart date begins to slow down. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Rosalie Hale." I say. "It's nice to meet you. Sorry for not watching where I was going." Bella said. "Don't worry Bella." I laugh. "I should get going." Bella said. She went to walk away only to be snapped back to me because we never let go of each other's hands. "Sorry." We both said simultaneously. Reluctantly I let go of her hand. Then we just stood there awkwardly. "I gotta go that way." Bella said pointing behind her with her thumb. I smiled. "And I have to go this way." I said pointing in the opposite direction. I would look back on this meeting many years later and think, 'what an awkward beginning.'
