prologue

My eyes fly open and I jump up checking my surroundings. I stand perfectly still scanning the forest around me. Something had come close enough to alarm my body, yet I don't feel them any more. I unfurl my wings and let them stretch. They ache from laying down, but I needed my rest for the journey tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will be traveling a long distance for the first time in my life, to get to the fabled school of magic. Half breeds, especially dragon and human half breeds, are born with magic within them already, just waiting to be tapped into. I will be learning how to tap into that magic very soon. I look up at the sky and the shining stars before laying back down and closing my eyes.
