Argh, another year, another crazy, messed-up, torturous year.
I got up and combed my messy black hair and proceeded to the bathroom. I put on my favourite hoodie, which was always there for me when I need to hide, jeans and Converse.
I walked out of the house yelling, "Bye Mum, I'm leaving for school," before slamming the door shut while putting up my hood. Anger always brewed this early in the morning for me. It wasn't going to make any difference since I would get angry later in the day anyway.
I waited for the bus, but it seemed like it was avoiding me. When it finally came, it slowed down until the driver saw me and picked up speed again. Probably because I always trip over the steps and take a lot of time picking up my books on the floor. I sighed and ran after the bus.
"Hey!" I shouted as I ran. The kids in the bus all turned around and looked at me. The bus finally slowed down. As it came to a halt, I saw the bus driver rolling his eyes and sighing. I should really get his name, I could complain about him, you know. I walked up the steps and searched for an empty seat. I plopped down next to a brunette and she looked at me, disgusted.
I turned to her and raised my eyebrows.
"Ew, gross. Who wears a hoodie nowadays? Such a loser!"
Not surprised at all. Always get noticed for such things.
"Not like what ever you are wearing looks any better," I muttered under my breath.
She widened her eyes and cleared her throat, "Um, excuse me?" Shucks, I thought people like her were half deaf since they probably never cared about others' opinions.
I forced out a sheepish smile and said through clenched teeth, "No other way to better start off a morning than exercising, right?" She huffed and folded her arms. She moved an inch to her side, away from me. Great, I thought, a little less of this self-entitled aura around me.
Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at the gates of hell. Should I give you a brief introduction of this place that burns with angst and raging hormones? I will anyways. This place is a highway to death. In this very structure itself contains hundreds of bodies embedded with just pure evil. They are probably earth's devils in some sort. This structure has stood here for about ninety years already! Amazing how it hasn't burnt down by the pure forces of evil and pent up frustration already, isn't it?
I got off the bus, heaving a sigh of relief since no one has kicked me down the stairs. I walked briskly across the lawn, towards the gates of impending doom, eyes darting left and right, making sure the demons don't pounce onto me and eat me on the first day of my visit. Of this year, at least. I saw groups of them gathered around, probably scheming their next attack on an innocent human. On the left, there was the group of hyperactive jocks, yelling and losing their minds. The loud and obnoxious. I shook my head. My eyes darted to the right and there was the group of guys, which I never understood why they do what they do. They were always checking themselves out in their mirrors that they kept closely in their pockets. Not as if they were that good looking. Lastly, I looked to the front and there I saw the group which you would recognise immediately if you had watched Mean Girls. The group of blondes and brunettes, sitting on the school steps, being fawned over by guys and girls alike for their good looks. For me, however, I only see girls with average, perhaps borderline, grades. They would be on the verge of dropping out if not for the fact that these girls' parents are filthy rich and they donate to the school a huge amount of money every year. The school denies this fact although everyone knows what's up. These girls themselves are also the faces of our school. Their faces are literally plastered every where on the school magazines and website. My goal for this year was to avoid them at all costs but it seemed like that wasn't going to work out for me today.
"Hey Loser Lee! Haven't seen you since the last school year! How was your Summer break?" Liz broke out in her signature sinister smile.
"Save the formalities, Liz. I would appreciate if you wouldn't block my way like you always do." I snapped back at her with a smile as well.
Liz is really the devil incarnate. She is fueled by malice and will go out of her way to make sure you stop living if you ever did as much as accidentally tapping her back. Well, I am already lucky enough to be kept in her bad books!
She shot me a glare and reluctantly moved to her left, still keeping the smile on her face, "Shall we start the school year off on the right foot?" I looked away and nodded as I started my way up the stairs. As I placed my right foot on the first step, she punched my shin and I fell forward, putting my hands forward to break my fall.
"Well, I guess you're going to have to start it off with the left!" she laughed ruthlessly. She stood up and disappeared into the school hall. I was left lying on the steps as people walked up the stairs quickly.
By now, you could guess that I'm an Asian and maybe you could speculate that I'm a high school senior.
I sighed as I tried to stand up. The only words that ran through my mind was 'Welcome to Reeves High, Sunshine.'
