Birds. Creatures that fly around everywhere. Beautiful beaks, little eyes, big wings that spread out across the sky. But, what if deep inside their mind, they think about more stuff than keeping a family alive? More stuff than eating worms and building nests? What if....they think like us? But not just like us, like an evil version of us. And you know how many people go pigeon shooting for fun and shoot birds for dinner, and lock them up in cages to sell them on and get money. Now....if other creatures did that to us, wouldn't we want revenge? Wouldn't we want them dead? We would team up and destroy them for all they have done to us and take back the world that was once ours. Because birds have evolved from dinosaurs....dinosaurs mostly ate living things, like meat. So maybe birds still have that evil streak in them. What if, they are planning to take revenge on us, take back the world what was there's, kill us all....well, this is a story about if they did....Dead Birds....

Joey sat looking out his bedroom window as the birds flew passed. There seemed to be more than usual, which was fine as Joey loved birds. He loved their big wings, tiny black eyes, colourful beaks and the fact there were loads of breeds of them. Joey even captured his own bird! It was a male blackbird he'd named Johnny. Johnny always tried to escape when Joey went to feed him, he didn't like Joey much, but Joey thought the world of him.

Joey's mum, Judy, called to him to come downstairs. So he ran down the stairs to meet her in the kitchen.
'Hi!' Joey said cheerfully, desperate to know what his mother wanted to tell him.
'Ah, Joey, I was reading the paper and there's a bird watching trip coming up! I thought you and dad might want to go!'
'YES!' Joey said with joy.
'Great, il tell daddy when he gets home!'
And with that Joey raced back up stairs to Johnny. Joey began to talk to Johnny as he always did. Joey was a very lonely boy who didn't have many friends. As he spoke to Johnny he began to fiddle with the cage and put his index finger through one of the gaps. Johnny, for once jumped at Joey's finger, biting straight into it with his beak, which was surprisingly strong. He screamed and pulled back his finger which was marked with a huge gash, and blood poured down it. His mother ran to her little boy up the stairs.
'JOEY! WHAT HAPPENED?!' She said hugging him.
'J-Johnny bit my finger!'
'W-what....?' His mother grabbed her sons finger to see the gigantic wound with blood dripping onto the floor.
Judy lifted him off the ground and took him to the bathroom to patch it up. She cleaned his wound with an anti-septic wipe and put a plaster over it.
'There all better!' Judy said trying to make him happier. But he was still in tears.
'Aww come on! It will heal! Would you like a sweetie to make you better too?'
'No....I just don't know why Johnny bit me! He's my best friend!'
Judy realised that if this bird hurt a human once, it would hurt a human again! And maybe next time do more damage....she knew what she had to do....get rid of Johnny.

That night, Joey's dad, Fred, came home.
'Hello little fella!' He said greeting Joey with a hug.
'Hello daddy! Johnny bit me!' He said with a sad tone in his voice.
'Johnny? Your bird?!' He put Joey back down and told him he'd be back in a minute. And with that, Fred ran to Judy in the kitchen.
'What happened with that bird and Joey's finger?!'
'I know! The bird bit his finger! It left a massive wound but I taped it up, we need to get rid of that bird Fred....it's dangerous to have in the house!'
'What will we tell Joey?!'
'That Johnny missed his family and wanted to leave and told us to tell him that he'll visit again!'
Fred agrees to the plan and that they'd do it that night as Joey slept, they'd take the bird into the woods and free it.

That night, as Joey slept....
'Il take the bird into the woods, you stay here with Joey....' Judy told Fred, Fred didn't want her to go on her own but she did what she wanted. So Judy left with Johnny in the cage.
She walked along the road with the stones crunching beneath her feet and Johnny squawking loudly, probably waking the neighbours. She turned and walked a little bit into the local woods, when she thought she was further enough in, she placed the cage on the floor and opened the top for Johnny to fly out. To her surprise, Johnny just sat there and stared at her in silence.
'Go on you stupid bird get out!' She turned the cage upside down and shook it, but Johnny clang on, still silent.
'Ugh! Il just leave you here then!' She turned around in horror, she was surrounded by
black birds that had formed a circle around her, trapping her. She tried her best to scare them away but they didn't move. Until she heard Johnny squawk, then a,l the birds came flying at her and she let out a loud scream. The began biting her flesh and blood sprayed everywhere, her screams were loud, but no one came to her rescue. Eventually, a few minutes passed and her screams fell silent. The birds flew away and left Judy's remains behind.

Joey woke up that morning to see Johnny's cage gone. He was scared so he jumped out of bed and ran to his parents room where the bed was empty, but more disturbing than that, no wrinkles, nobody slept there last night. He raced downstairs and screamed. There in a chair, sat his dead father, his flesh had been torn off his body and what was left of his face a shocked expression, he turned to see the door wide open. He walked to the front door to call for help but the whole town, it was filled with dead, half eaten  corpses. Joey screamed, he turned around to see....birds coming his way....
The end.

Now, the moral of the story is, never mis-treat animals, you never know, they might get revenge one day....
