Have you ever woken
On the cold, dark nights
To hear the mournful song of the wolf
And wondered why he cries?
Have you ever sworn under your breath
That you might drift back to sleep
That the wolf might be silenced
So you might have peace?
Have you ever thought
Of why the wolf cries
Or why it talks to the moon
Under the violet, lavender sky?
Have you ever lost
A person you held dear
And needed to talk to someone
Out of anger, depression, or fear?
Have you ever had
No one understand you,
But instead run, hide, or attack
With no one but God to stand beside you?
Have you ever been
Lost, cold, and alone
With no better company
Than the silver moon that shone?
Have you ever cried
To everyone that wouldn't listen,
But Instead heard your words
And wouldn't bother to fit them?
Have you ever lived
Like the wind blows,
Never staying in one place,
But like the wind, flows?
Have you ever died
Like a savage that lived alone
Whose only companion
Was the silver moon that shone?
Have you ever remembered
Those memories shared with others
Of running, fighting... and thinking
With your sisters and brothers?
Have you ever become hunter
Just as swiftly become prey
To hide and run from others
From the black of night to the bright of day?
Have you ever wondered
Why the wolf cries?
Maybe to show when he's alone
Or to show when he dies.
