Busy Dreaming

Shadows walk the faded line,
'Tween mortal earth and someplace divine.
They stay for the day, never leaving our side.
Then they fade away,
Without uttering goodbyes.
From dusk to dawn, they leave us to our own,
Away in some land that they call home.
Night falls,
and the darkness is steadily leering.
Loneliness calls,
I'm cornered in my own mind, screaming.
Its so loud,
And it seems like you don't even hear me.
I would have told you,
But i guess you were too busy dreaming.

While the man seeks his pleasure in alcohol,
I seek the ability to not recall.
I recognize that drink is a poison,
But in my head, a potion to mute the noise.
For every lonely man losing himself in sorrow,
For every bottle he promised himself,
"Tomorrow,"
For broken hearts, it's dulling the
Growing pains,
For lonely walks, it numbs the shame.
To stand outside without feeling rain.
A scapegoat to put all the blame,
Without accepting you'll never be the same.
I'm killing my liver, finding the meaning..
Drowning in liquor, losing all feeling.
I would have told you,
But i guess you were too busy dreaming.

In the eyes of the common man,
Success lies in a plot of land,
Live bands and caviar,
Fast cars and movie stars.
Yet behind closed doors, themselves despising,
To the themes of their own songs crying,
Alone with everything in the world,
Behind false lyrics, true emotions unfurl.
When real eyes realize real lies,
They hide all feeling
Behind a designer guise.
No goals in life, but to be free
From mental demons,
Keeping them from being their own being,
I would have told you,
But i guess you were too busy dreaming.
