The bell rang, signaling lunch time at the Hodges High School in Colorado. Tony walked into the wide halls of the school. He was trying to find out the next person where he would buy another one of his alcoholic drinks from. Since he was underage, just shy of turning eighteen, he couldn't just buy it in the store. Around the school, the prices of hard drinks ranged from strongest which was most expensive, to the least strongest, which was, of course the least expensive. Right now, was his time to hunt down a few people who carried such drinks in the school.
Suddenly, someone rushed to Tony's side. "Hey, Tony! Did you hear that Linda's havin' a party?" Mark was known as the "go-to" guy if you wanted insight to the school's latest topics, which were mostly gossip, parties, or the drink of the week.
Tony thought for a moment on who Mark was talking about. "Ahh, her. The teacher's pet." Everyone was at some type of a group at Hodges. You would have the druggies, the cheerleaders, the anti-social, the football team, the dancers. You name it, it was here somewhere.
Mark shook his head. "Nah, man. The one who gets straight B's all the time, and no As. It looks as if she's finally getting bored with all those books. Her birthday is coming up, and let's just say, she wants to let loose."
Tony's eyebrows raised. "Get loose?" He smirked, "Nice. Everyone needs that every once in awhile. I'm surprised she knows almost all the people in the school, if she has her nose buried in paper. I mean, look at me. Almost everyone knows me, and I don't even know half of the names in the school. Just the-"
"-Important ones." Mark said, smirking at him. Only the important names mattered, and of course girls. They always mattered too.
Tony smiled, nodded. Mark always got him. "Exactly. Just the important ones."
"You know the girl that gets straight B's?" Mark asked.
Tony sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Alright, alright. Linda was her name."
Tony looked taken aback. "Linda? Walk with me, cause I gotta get my drink."
Mark followed him down the hallway. 'Her parents are leaving, and they would celebrate right before the big day, so Linda is gonna throw another party for the school. And you know what that means!"
Tony rolled his eyes. "You think about girls way too much."
"But she's worth thinking about. With her long hair, and bright eyes, not to mention those legs."
"Alright, where's Broker? He's not down the hall...ohhh right. it's Wednesday so he'd be in the gym." He turned right for a corner.
"How you feeling by the way. You didn't look so good last week."
"Yeah I know. Hey, Broker! You gotta five for me?" Tony said as he saw the guy. As usual, the guy turned and went into the other direction. Tony jogged with him to keep up.
Soon, the three of them, including Mark, were in a small, empty room inside the gym.
"I got something a little stronger for you. It's rare around town though. You might wanna be careful." Broker said as he started to unzip his backpack.
"You and leather, I swear." Tony commented. Broker had a leather jacket, denim jeans, and a tight blue t-shirt.
"As I always say leather is clever."
"And besides, if it's outta' town, it's gotta be good." Tony grinned.
"No, I'm serious. It's pretty strong." Broker said.
Tony puffed. "The stronger, the better. What's the name?"
"Black Russian."
Tony thought for a moment, and shook his head. "Never heard of it before."
"Like I said, it's rare over here. It's eight dollars and fifty cents."
"Holy hell dude! You know I can't pay that!" Tony hissed.
Broker shrugged. "I had to up the price on this one. It's rare and it's strong."
Tony looked over at Mark, and pushed Broker and himself away from Mark. He spoke in a low voice. "Look buddy, that's a lot of money, and I don't have a job but mown' grass. Any way I could get a deal?"
Broker sighed. "It's gotta be a big one."
"What are my options?"
"French kiss a girl at that party, dance with a jock, or french kiss him. Maybe even both" He smirked.
Tony's breath hitched, and he knew his face described worry. "I can't do that. That stays between us. I'm not gonna...in front of everybody? Nobody can even keep a secret here. I'm....secret."
Broker shrugged. "Big price for a rare bottle. Guy or girl."
If I do...kiss a guy, can it be closed doors?"
Broker shook his head.
"You're killing me here!" Tony said a little too loudly.
Broker looked apologetic.
"Fine. A Girl it is. I'll fuckin' shove my tongue down her throat. Save the bottle for me though."
"Will do."
Tony stormed out of the gym. 'I can't believe this crap. That is bullcrap. Risking my reputation..for a damn drink...that costs more than.....ah fuck it. I don't know anymore. I am getting that drink though.'
As they were walking back, Mark said to him, "You know, that was very unnecessary to pull away from me."
"You're the messenger for the school. You're the one they all want to avoid. Where is the party going to be?"
Mark looked shocked. "You don't know?"
"Remember, she doesn't go to parties, much. If at all." Tony said. "Come on. I need to smoke."
Mark laughed. "You smoke too?"
Tony walked out the door, that led outside. He started walking to the back of the building. It was starting to get very warm for a school year. The boys could both feel the heat on their backs, like they were in a microwave that was just going for 30 seconds at a time. The grass was green and soft as Tony walked along it. "Thinking about skipping 5th period."
"Don't you have art fifth period? I thought you liked art?" Mark asked.
Tony pulled out a cigarette. "You gotta match?" Mark nodded and handed it to him. Tony lit up, sucked one long breath in, let it out and started to answer the question. "That's the thing. I have art and yes, I love art, but...I sketch my own things. And well....my sketches...I don't really want anybody to see them."
"What's your grade in that class?" Mark asked.
Tony shrugged. "A C I think. I usually go to the class but the problem is that...well...the class noise gives me a headache."
"Ah. I see. What do you draw that can't be shown in class?"
Tony blushed. "Like I'm telling you."
Mark help out his hands. "Okay, okay. I'll back off. The house is on Blane street. 345."
"That's a nice house."
"Which means more fun to tear it up." He grinned.
"Just to get wasted. Are you going?" Tony asked.
"What are you, nuts? As the walking newspaper for the school, it's my job to go."
'Fuck. hopefully I can get away from him. I don't want this to go all around the school. One kiss can change everything.'
