I must have accidentally forgotten to close my window curtains because the sun is shining right on my face. My eyes are closed but I refuse to open because of the harsh sunlight. There's a sound that really reminds me of a wave. I turned to get more comfortable and look away from the sun. Instead, my hand grips something that feels a lot like sand and the sun is still in my eyes. My eyes shoot open and I quickly sit up.
It wasn't a nightmare after all. This is really happening. I'm stranded on an island. I look over and don't see Dylan. I climb up from where I was previously laying and looked around searching for Dylan. He's nowhere to be seen. Where did he go? Did something happen to him?
I begin to panic and my breaths come out shorter. My heart is racing and all I can think about is how I'm alone. I fall to my knees and gasp for air. A shadow appears in front of me and something is pressed against my lips. I realize it's my inhaler and I quickly use it. My breathing becomes normal again, and I'm only shaking a little bit now.
"You okay?" Dylan asked. I looked up at him. He's on his knees in front of me with a look of concern. I didn't waste time to wrap my arms around his neck and hold him tight to me.
"I thought I was alone. I thought you were gone." I said and realized I was crying when I felt a tear fall down my face. Dylan wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my back.
"I'm here." He whispered.
We just sat there in each other's arms and my stomach decided to growl. I groaned and pulled away. Grabbing my purse, I grabbed a granola bar and took about a quarter of it and then offered some to Dylan. He took about the same as me and then I put the rest back in my purse for later. I have a feeling we'll be here for a little bit, so we need all the food we can get.
Dylan walked around and observed the surroundings. I have a feeling we are going to be exploring through the big forest in front of me for recourses. It's going to be one heck of a journey that's for sure. Can't waste anytime if we want to have the recourses we need, so I get up from the sand and brush off my legs.
"Let's go." I said and trudged through the forest.
"What're you doing?" Dylan asked and grabbed my arm to stop me from going any further.
"We need to explore the island, find all the recourses we can, and maybe there's someone else on the island." I said.
"Okay, but stay close. We don't know what animals live in here." Dylan warned. I nodded and we moved forward. Many exotic plants are scattered everywhere. Different species of frogs, birds, and many more animals scurry all over and run off to avoid Dylan and I.
I shriek when a spider appears in front of my face. My hands are quicker swatting in all different directions and I move quickly to catch up with Dylan who keeps taking quick glances at me. I see a small amused smile on his face, but he's still serious and trying to find some solutions to this situation.
We walked for what felt like hours, but was probably only one hour. My body has produced so much swear I didn't know was possible. I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand and wiped away the sweat. Dylan seemed to be experiencing the same as me. I stopped and put my hands on my hips to catch a breath. Dylan did the same and sat down on the ground. I stood up still, but five minutes later we were walking again.
With the bag I carried with me on our little hunt, we collected a lot of recourses we could use. Some fruit and some other stuff. The sun was beginning to set and I am completely exhausted.
"Tomorrow, we need to work on shelter." Dylan spoke up. He's sitting up and staring at the ocean ahead of us. I'm laying down trying to get comfortable.
"Okay." I replied. Dylan laid down beside me and closed his eyes.
"Get some sleep. We'll need it." He said before drifting off to sleep. One day down and who knows how many more left.
