Jess's Point of View
I was at some bar. I was looking for him, Ben, was his name. My real dad. I found out three days ago from a box of letters that my mom left behind. I found them hidden in my dad's room. I guess it would be nice to say that I consider my current dad to actually be my dad because he's been in my life for so long and he's been there for me and blah blah blah, but he hasn't. Not since mom passed. It's not really that big of a deal, I guess I'm just curious to see what he's like, what my life would've been like if my mom would've stayed with him. I'm not going to talk to him or go up to him, I'm just going to see who he comes here with and what he seems like.
I've been at the bar for about ten minutes now. The note my mom left said he comes here every Thursday at around 7:00 pm. The chances he will actually show up are slim to nothing. I mean it has been more than seventeen years. Apparently it was special to him, to come here every Thursday. I don't really know why, I didn't read the letter thoroughly, it was kind of boring. I waited at the bar for almost an hour and I didn't see anyone who matched the description of my father that my mom gave me in the letter. I guess I won't get to see what my real dad is like. It's not a huge deal, I wasn't that interested.
Tonight there's a concert going on and I was invited to the after-party backstage. It's not a huge concert, more of a rave type thing. The guy singing, his name is Nate. He goes by Skate on stage now I guess. I met him... my thoughts were interrupted because some jackass ran into me when I was walking out of the bar. "Watch where you're going jackass." I stated.
"Woah okay. What's a girl like you doing at a bar like Wooly's?" He asked me. What the fuck? He doesn't even know me. Although, he did look a little familiar. I don't think I've ever met him though.
"Depends, who wants to know?" I replied.
"Ahh so you're one of those girls." He said. Honestly, what's his angle?
"Well it was just lovely running into you, now if you don't mind, I'm gonna walk away." I didn't give him time to answer before I walked away. At least I had thought so.
"Hey, what's your name?" He yelled as I was walking away. I turned around.
"Depends, who wants to know?" I repeated with a smirk. He just kinda smiled and nodded his head and then I turned around and walked away again. When I got to my car I got out my phone and texted Nate.
Jess: So stranger, am I still invited to your thing tonight?
Nate: Hell ya
Jess: On my way, where do I meet you?
Nate: Just park in the back of the building and I'll meet ya out there
I turned up my music and drove. It's been so long since I've seen Nate. I don't know him too well actually, we've just partied together a few times. He's becoming a pretty big deal now, so I guess it's cool that I know him or whatever. When I pulled up in the back I texted Skate that I was here and he came out of the back door. I got out of the car.
"Hello 'Skate'." I started the conversation.
"I am he." He joked. We walked up to the back door of the building. "I have to do some mic tests and stuff like that before the show starts so you can hang out backstage for a little while. I'll introduce you to the people that are here so far." He said.
"Sounds good." We got backstage and he introduced me to the people back there. The only one I remember from last time is Tez. What a cool name, Tez. We were hanging out backstage for a while. I caught up with Tez. Apparently he lives in LA still. He said he actually hasn't seen Nate in a while either. I hadn't seen him in forever. Then someone else walked in. It was the jackass who ran into me earlier.
"Yo my main man!" Tez got up and greeted him. They know each other? They talked for a second. "This is Jess." Tez introduced me to the guy.
"So that's your name. Or wait, does it still depend on who you ask?" He was being such a smartass.
"Jackass and smartass all in one." I smirked.
"You two know each other?" Tez asked.
"You could say that." He answered Tez. "I'm Sammy." He introduced himself.
"Would like to say it's nice to meet you, Sammy." I joked. We talked for a little bit and when it was about time for the concert to start we went out to the stage room. Before everyone else was let in, we got to go up front. It was a hella concert. I don't remember seeing anyone not smoking pot or drinking. There was a lot of people there too. Nate, I mean Skate, is getting pretty popular.
I stayed with Sammy for majority of the concert, he was pretty cool. After the concert I followed Sammy backstage to the after party. I don't remember everything that happened. The last thing I remember was making out with Sam. Did I really? Well damn Jess. It's okay he's hot and I won't have to see him ever again. I can only imagine what else happened. Given where I woke up the next morning.
