I wake up the next morning from the sound of Abby speaking, no, screaming at her phone. Annoyed, I peel my eyes open to check the time. It is eight in the morning.

"Rise and shine!" Abby sings as she invites herself into my room, clutching her phone in one hand.

"When did you get back?" I drone while rubbing my eyes.

"Oh, just a little after midnight." She chirps. "I have to admit, I was a little disappointed that Luke didn't invite me over, well, not that I want to do anything dirty with him–"

"You can stop there." I interrupt.

"But aside from that ending, I had a huge blast with Luke. He's so shy and dorky, which is a refreshing change from all the cocky guys that I've dated." She rambles. "We went to this delicious pasta place, which is hardly a place where couples would go to, but I think that's the gist of it you know? Candlelight dinners in expensive fine dining places can be so cliché sometimes, as romantic as it may sound."

"Uh-huh." I say, barely listening.

"Then, we spontaneously went for a movie, and it was the worst movie ever, but with Luke right next to me cracking jokes about the plot holes every now and then, it ended up pretty enjoyable." Abby gushes. "And he just called me like a minute ago to ask me if I wanted to go out again, I think I may have sounded too eager, but I'm so excited!"

"Right." I yawn,  shooting her a wonky thumbs-up. "Glad that you guys are making progress."

"Oh, please, don't pretend that I'm the only one in this place that is making progress. You didn't even tell me that you invited Zach over last night, and all this time I've been thinking of you as my pure and decent friend." She teases and my eyes fully pop open.

"Wait a minute..." I mumble. How did things end last night?

"When I got back, you were already asleep in your room and Zach was about to leave." Abby recalls. "Now tell me, were you pretending to be asleep so I wouldn't find out about what went down between the two of you while I was out?"

"What are you talking about?" I snap, no longer feeling tired. "I invited him over to help me with the assignment, which you haven't even started on. And also, would it hurt for you to remember your share of the chores?"

"Whoa, calm down woman." Abby gasps dramatically. "In my defense, I do my chores seventy percent of the time, and we all know why I don't come around to doing the rest, because I'm busy with other things."

"That's not a valid excuse." I say.

"Okay, then, I whipped up some good English breakfast for us today because I couldn't sleep from all that post-date exhilaration. Why don't we call it even from here?" she winks sheepishly.
