Hello guys! So hope your enjoying this story. I will try and get chapter four up sometime this week, depending on how many hours i'm working. :)
Chapter Three
We were still sat at the bar as it reached 1am and I was starting to get tired.
“It’s getting late, so I better head home.” I decided.
“It’s only 1am!” She stated.
“What? I’m getting tired. And I’m not the kind of person to stay out till early hours of the morning anyway.” I explained.
“Ok, ok.” She said as she stood up and headed to the bathroom. “I’ll see you around.”
I stood up, smiled at her and left the club. The street was brightly lit up from the club lights, so much that it was starting to give me a headache. I reached the end of the street and moved to next one which was very gloomy; it was actually sort of creepy. The street was silent, so I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone and my earphones. I put my earphones in and started to listen to some Fall Out Boy. “One night and one more time, thanks for the memories even though they weren’t great…” I went silent as I realized I was singing out loud in the middle of a quiet street. Lucky no one was around to see that. I finally reached my street, I lived on the end of the road in a small 3 bedroom house with my step-dad, Sean, and my little brother. My mother and step-dad met when I was 8 years old and got married when I was 12. They were perfect for each other and Sean was like the dad we never had, since my dad and my mum split up when I was 5 years old. He was doing drugs and my mother left him because he started abusing her. She did the right thing though. I miss her so much, me and her used to have girly nights every Saturday night. We used to stay up until 2am watching movies and munching on popcorn. A big smile grew on my face as I thought of all the happy memories we all had.
I walked through the door trying to not wake anyone but to my surprise Justin was sat in the living room. He heard me as I closed the door, stood up and ran over to me.
“Where the hell have you been?” Justin questioned. But before I could answer he carried on talking. “Dad’s going crazy! He thought you’d been in an accident or abducted. You don’t know the kind of things we were thinking had happened to you. And why weren’t you answering your phone, I’ve called you a lot.” He babbled.
“What? You didn’t call me and it’s not that late, it’s only like 1am.”
“1:18 to be exact.” He corrected. “And I did call you, I called you four times but it kept going to answer phone. Look you better go upstairs and let him know you’re back.”
“Well you must have the wrong number!” I said as I made my way upstairs. I knocked on my Dads door and opened it. “Hey, I’m back.”
He was sat on his bed watching television. He looked at me and shot up, walking quickly to the door. He stood very closely to me – too close – and spoke with a very angry look. “God! Where were you? It’s not like you to stay out late. You could have let us know, we were worried sick. I’ve been panicking for the past hour and a half. Oh my god!”
“I’m sorry, I just had some thinking to do.”
“And that includes drinking does it? How much have you had?” He said raising his voice.
“How did you…” He wouldn’t let me finish.
“You reek of the stuff!”
“Charming!” I said sarcastically. “One glass, honest. You know I don’t drink a lot.” I replied.
“Well, ok. You know I care about you, both of you. I love you both and I just don’t like alcohol.” I looked down to my feet, disappointed in myself. I knew what he’d been through. You see, Sean has a daughter who would be about my age now, well if she was still with us. She was called Emily and she was the daughter of Sean’s ex-girlfriend, Alana, who split up with him when Emily was just 2 years old. At fifteen years old she started hanging around with a bad crowd and started drinking every other night, which turned into a daily thing. She ended up becoming an alcoholic at sixteen and got her older friends to buy it for her. She died in hospital from alcohol poisoning about 1 6 months later. It killed Sean. He’s been through so much, we all have. I just felt bad for even contemplating going to a club.
“I’m sorry.” I said as I swung my arms around him hugging him.
“It’s ok, just let me know when you go out to drink. You’re a smart girl and I know you wouldn’t do anything silly, but I just get worried.” He said as he smiled at me and kissed my forehead. “You better go bed, it’s getting late. Tell Justin he should sleep as well.”
I smiled, “Ok.” I walked to the top of the stairs and shouted, “Justin!”
“Yeah?” He answered.
“Dad said we should go bed.” I shouted.
“Alright.” I replied.
I headed to my room, closed the door and got changed into my pajamas. I sat down on my bed and looked at the picture of my mum I kept on my nightstand. I smiled as a tear rolled down my cheek. “Oh mum, we miss you so much.” I could feel that I was about to burst into tears. I picked up the picture which was kept in a silver frame with gems in the top right corner forming a butterfly. “I love you mum. Good night!” I placed the frame back on the nightstand, turned the light off and lay down on my bed, pulling the covers over me. I closed my eyes and imagined the whole family together again and fell asleep.
