cora's pov

"do you think dad is coming today?" i asked my mom as i took a bite from my sandwich,although i already knew the answer.

"he doesn't have time for us,"she said,sadly,not looking up from her plate.

"of course he does,mom. you should understand that he's a business man and he has a lot of work to do every single day," i tried to convince her but clearly,i was miserably failing.

she put her fork down her plate and pushed her chair back,getting up from her seat,"i'm not hungry."

i huffed in disbelief and continued to eat my sandwich quietly.

my dog walked in the room and jumped on me,continuously licking my face,which means,she wants me to take her for a walk. i ran my fingers through her hair and held her,grabbing my keys from the coffee table and walked out of the house.

my body tensed up as i saw a stranger coming towards me with his dog,for no reason. it's not like he was going to rape me or anything,i just got scared. 

"hey," the stranger smiled and scratched the back of his neck.

"sorry if i'm being creepy," he added,nervously smiling to me.

i shook my head,smiling back,"it's okay. you're not creepy. what's her name?"i asked,pointed towards his dog.

"good," he widely smiled,"it's a male dog. his name is augie."

i nodded awkwardly,not knowing what to say. we did nothing but watch the dogs play with each other. 

"they could date," the guy finally said,smirking. even though he tried to stop himself from smirking,i could still see it. 

i looked away,smiling,"dogs don't date."

"i'm justin,by the way,"he extended his hands out for me to shake.

i shook it,"cora."

"well,cora,i should go right now. see you next week?" he asked,raising his eyebrow.

i nodded,"yeah."
