Ch.9: Crush

Chico's POV

We were so excited to finally start middle school. We would have started months ago, but Manko didn't have the money to enroll all three of us. So she took a small break to get the money. I had missed school. I was so excited to see what would happen next. The only thing was....it was middle school. It seemed so much....bigger than elementary. Plus...I was in a different grade than Pico and Coco. They were starting 7th grade and I was in 6th. It wasn't fair that we were separated. We also went to a school with uniforms. We both had on black buttoned shirt, with black pants and black shoes. I didn't like the uniform. It had no style at all. Coco fussed about it and he decided to curls his hair for today and he rolled up his shirt sleeves, and put on a white undershirt, tucking his buttoned and undershirt into his pants, and he left a few buttons open to his shirt. He also put on a few bracelets and wore a long necklace, and had his heart pin on the pocket of his shirt. He looked super stylish for today. I guess it wasn't that bad. The uniforms are the same, but....nobody said we couldn't....play around with them. Pico had put his hair up in a small ponytail and wore a pink beret in his hair. He then un-buttoned the buttons of his sleeves, letting them stay open. He had a white satchel around him, with lots of pins, but had his star pin connected on the collar of his shirt. He rolled up his pants, to look like capris. He also had a pink undershirt under his shirt, which you could see more, thanks to him just leaving the whole shirt open. He then wore tall white socks with his shoes. As for me.....I had on a dark green beanie, I had my hair like normal, but it wasn't brushed. I decided to look messy for today. Plus...people would think I was cool! I had my a green and black undershirt, and took my black buttoned shirt, tying it around my waist. I then rolled one leg sleeve up and the other one was down. I then put on a choker necklace and an extra necklace that hung down. I put on green and black stripped armbands and wore some rings. I found some cool green tinted sunglasses and put my clover pin on my hat. 

"So...tell us why we had to dress up for school again?", Coco asked. I smiled and said, "Well....its middle school and from what I learned...people show off how cool they are by the way they dress. We need to show everyone that we are cool and we will be likable". "I mean....we all look really nice, but...wouldn't we...get in trouble?", Pico asked. "Oh come on. I came to school in just a dinosaur costume, so they won't get mad at us", I said, reassuring them. "Okay...", Pico said. We made it to school and we were in shock by how big it was. It was much larger than the elementary school! "Its....so big", Pico said. "Yeah...I can't remember the last time I went to school", Coco said. Suddenly I looked at Coco. "Really? Have you even....been to....school before?", I asked. Coco looked down and said, "I was in daycare...and made it all the way to 3rd grade. I never went after that. Mom was dealing with....dad leaving so....I was pulled out. She couldn't afford it anymore". So...I had to teach myself everything from newspapers, magazines, and books. Its a good thing I could read", Coco said. Pico and I felt bad for him. Poor Coco.   

"WATCH OUT!". Suddenly I heard a voice and felt something hit my head. I fall back, onto the ground and I grab my head in pain. I let out an ow and heard gasps. The boys asked if I was okay and I nod, looking up at them. "That ball just came at you", Coco said. I saw Pico get mad and he was looking around. "Hey who did that?!", he yelled. "It's okay Pico, no need to....", I was about to say as Coco helped me up. Suddenly I saw a small girl about my age come my way. "Hey, are you okay?", she asked. My eyes widened, she was so cute! She had short caramel hair and big green eyes. Her uniform was like ours, but had a a black and white uniform. "I'm sorry if l hit you, my friends threw a ball at me and I...just...freaked out. I never meant to hurt you". "Oh...no..i'm fine", I say. I smile back at her, then she seems relieved. "I'm glad your okay", she says. I nod and she blushed, saying she liked our choice of fashion. I smiled and asked if she really did. "yeah...if I could...I would love to wear purple and pink". I smile and said she would totally pull it off. She blushed again and then she started to mumble. "W...well...I g...gotta...go...See you around!", she said. "Yeah...see ya". She walks away awkwardly and I watch as she does. I then instantly realize...I never got her name. Who was she? She seemed so nice....so.....cute....! "Chico?". I heard Pico and Coco and then I remember where I'm at. "You okay Chico?", Coco asked. "Y..yeah...I was just...uh...". "Come on Chico", Pico says. We all head into school and went to our classes. We hoped we weren't too late.
