I walked down the sidewalk to my buddy's garage. I knocked on the door and waited. I brushed my pink bangs back from my face. I tapped my boot and waited. Rick, the drummer for my band, opened the door.
"Sorry I'm late, but my bike had a flat tire," I apologized, stepping inside.
"It's fine, but shoot me a text next time Strum," he said, closing the door.
My friends called me Strum because I was pretty awesome with a guitar. I pulled out my guitar and took off my green jacket. I looked around at my other band members. Greg, my bass guitarist, and Landon, the keyboardist. He also played the flute and the clarinet. I grinned and grabbed a microphone.
"Alright guys, let's get started. Pick up where we left off," I said.
Everyone nodded and took their places. I counted to three and we began. I sang and played lead guitar, Rick did a great drum solo, Landon was wicked with the keyboard, and Landon didn't mess up once. We practiced for three hours and took a break. I guzzled some water and looked at the clock. My ride should be here soon.
"Hey Strum, after this, why don't we try something new?" Landon suggested.
I nodded. So fa, we do rock. Maybe it was time to switch it up.
"Hey, my little sister is having a birthday party. We could do a song for that," Rick said.
"Great thinking, Ricky. Why don't we try upbeat and light, maybe even a little more like pop music. You know, for the kids," I said.
Greg gave me a high-five and grinned.
"I can't wait for the Battle of the Bands! We need to be ready for tomorrow, so eat right and get plenty of sleep," he said.
"And we all agreed on wearing white, blue, and silver tomorrow, right?" I said.
They nodded. I always dyed my hair to match our outfits, so I was thinking whit with blue streaks. The door swung open and my older brother poked his head in.
"C'mon sis, I need to get to my date on time," he said.
That was Travis, my older brother. He had sandy blond hair and a perfect complexion. A dream-boat for every girl. I rolled my eyes and picked up my guitar.
"Catch you later, guys," I said.
I walked out to his motorcycle and climbed on, slipping on my black helmet. I made sure I had everything and sped off with Travis. He dropped me off and raced away. I walked inside and up into my room. I had the entire attic to myself, and posters and guitars were hanging everywhere. I put my favorite guitar in its spot and plopped down on my bed.
It was 8:00 pm. Might as well dye my hair and go to bed. I walked over to the bathroom and got out my collection of hair dyes. They were all wash-out, of course, but I would need to use soap. I grabbed the white and blue and got to work. I washed out the pink and dyed my hair the right colors. I put everything back and slipped on an old t-shirt and some sleep pants. I crawled into bed and fell asleep, dreaming of tomorrow.

I woke up and yawned. I glanced at the clock. 8:36. I overslept! I quickly got up and ran to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, brushed my hair, and put on silver eyeshadow and blue lipstick. The only times I wear make-up is when I perform I ran to my closet and threw on some dark jeans, a silver tank, a white jacket, silver boots, and a blue tie.
I put on my favorite gray cap and made sure everything was set. I grabbed some toast and my guitar and ran out the door. The van was waiting outside. I hopped in and slammed the door shut. Greg's cousin was driving, as usual, and everyone was in their usual seats.
