Chapter One

I just moved to Edmonton, Alberta from New York. Yeah yeah, big city girl moving to a small city. I got kicked out of my last school, too many fights. My dad is a lawyer and owns lots of law firms all around the world, and my mom is a veterinarian, so we have lots money. My dad bought me a little house here in Edmonton hoping that a smaller city will help me mellow out. He even hired a maid/housekeeper/nanny to keep an eye on me.

I entered the small house, it was small compared to what I usually live in.

"Hello Alison, my name is Maria. I hope you enjoy yourself in your time living here." She gave me a warm smile. Maria had a Spanish accent and short curly hair that framed her oval face nicely. Her eyes were a dark brown that reminded me of chocolate. She had to have only been about 5'4 and was wearing a pink dress with black sandals.

I smirked, "Call me Ali." I looked around the room, with Maria watching me with hopeful eyes. When you first walked in there was a small mat for your shoes with a shoe rack pushed up against the wall. To the left was the living room that had a white couch and coffee table, and a large 62' black plasma TV with a Blu-ray DVD player underneath. In front of me was the kitchen, I couldn't see in there but I was sure it was nice. To the right there was a staircase that leads to the second floor. "Which room is mine?"

"Follow me." She guided me up the stairs into a large room that had a king size bed with gold sheets, a 50' flat screen tv with a Blue-ray DVD player, and a ps4. The walls were painted gray, and the floors were a white carpet. Off to the left, there was a bathroom attached to the bedroom, I walked in and it had a master tub with jets and a 2 person standup shower. I looked back into the bedroom and saw a nice little mini fridge.

"Nice." I mumbled, talking to myself. I turned to faceMaria, "Whats the catch?" I asked raising my eye brows.

"Catch?" She repeated me, sounding confused.

"Whys he giving me all this stuff?" I gestured around the room. "My dad wouldn't just give it to me unless he wanted something."

"He's not driving up your Ferrari." She said quickly and uncomfortably.

"What!" I yelled, "He's not driving up my baby?!"

"I'll give you time to unpack." She slowly backed out of the room and closed the door.

"Fuck!" I yelled throwing my new iPhone across the room. I went to the window and looked out angrily.

I looked up and saw a boy in his room talking on the phone. He was blonde with spiked up hair, his eyes were a bluish gray, and was at least 6'2. He was wearing a green t-shirt, which looked really good on him. I could see the way his muscular arms rippled every time he made a gesture. I decided to sit and stare for awhile. After a few seconds, he noticed me. He quickly hung up the phone and opened the window.

"Enjoying what you see?" He asked raising his eyebrows, letting out a nervous laugh.

"You bet." I winked, laughing at how uncomfortable he seemed. He quickly shook it off.

He smirked back. "I haven't seen you around, new?"

I nodded.

"I'm Chase Holt."

"Alison Draft. Call me Ali." I said flashing him my best grin.

He nodded in response.

"We should hangout sometime." I said putting on a flirty smile.

He smiled at my proposal. "Yeah, sure thing. Maybe we could go in your pool." He gestured to my backyard.

My smile went down and I froze, "I have a pool?" I said my mouth dropping open.

He stared at me, clearly unaware of why I was reacting so surprised.

"I just got here," I said quickly before he could pass further judgment on me.

He nodded as if he understood, "Let's swap numbers and I can text you later." He took out his phone and started pressing buttons.

"I'll give you my number since I just threw my phone across the room about five minutes ago."

He looked at me with curiosity in his eyes, I intrigued him, I could tell. I was going to play on this, make him want me.

"My dad took away my Ferrari." I shrugged. Chase was a rich kid too, he would understand my pain.

"We can go for a drive in my truck." He said a cocky grin forming on his face.

"Sure, I'll meet you out front." I shut my window and hopped down the stairs.

"Where are you doing Alison?" Maria called from the kitchen as she cooked dinner.

"I'll be back soon." I grabbed my favorite black leather coat from the coat rack and ran out the door where Chase was patiently waiting in his black 2015 ford pickup truck. I got in and it had leather seats and he had a blue tree air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror. He kept his truck clean, and it smelled like cologne. I wasn't going to lie, I liked it.

He noticed me looking around. "It's no Ferrari, but it's my baby." He said rubbing the dashboard the same way you would a dog,  I just rolled my eyes and started laughing.

"You bet it's no Ferrari, you couldn't go for a Dodge or a Chevy? You had to go Ford? I'm disappointed, Holt..." I crossed my arms and shook my head in disappointment. I was a big truck person. Fords were definitely not my cup of tea.

"Hey now, don't judge me. Wait until you hear my subs, then you'll change your mind." He grinned at me and started driving, "So what brings you to Edmonton?"

"I lived in New York for 4 years, then I got kicked out of school, and my dad thought that I should move to a smaller city." I said shrugging my shoulders.

He nodded, not taking his eyes off the road. He grinned, "Why'd you get kicked out?"

"Too many fights I guess," I smirked.  He just laughed and shook his head. "Don't laugh, people shouldn't piss me off then," I said crossing my arms and leaning back into the seat.

Chase burst out laughing, my mouth dropped open half smiling and I slapped him on the arm.
