Slugs

A slug is squirming in the rug. It is not a bug.

Why everyone thinks that a slug is a bug is a bigger mystery than why someone would name a pug Doug or a mug jug. It just is and just will be.

But as I gaze at the horizon and think about the squishers,

I wonder if I could become a slime gusher.

Why, oh why, cruel world, must a slug be confined to a body a little bigger than a pearl? Why do the slugs have no duke or earl?

Why do the charming not-bugs get disregarded

While we give the Pugs cards regarded?

So when Doug the pug got mugged by a thug

A slug sat by drinkin' from a coffee mug.

If the pugs are gonna get all the attention

The slugs will mug them just to get a mention.

Beware, world, of the menace of the slug.

Always remember that they are not bugs.
