Waking to the agonizing yelling of my alarm clock is one of the worst things ever. I always wake up first because Rose is a deep sleeper and extremely hard to wake up. She couldn't wake up even if I poured a gallon of cold water on her. It's about 6:00 a.m. when I get up and wake Rose up at 6:30 a.m. If she's wanted more time to get ready then she would wake up herself. That's rude. Sorry, Rose. Much love. We eventually get ready and leave by 7:00 a.m. We get to school just in time for the first bell, which rings at 7:30 a.m. I head to my locker to get my anatomy book and white binder. As I try to open my locker, I struggle because all of Noahs stuff is blocking the locking part of the locker. As I try my hardest to twist and pull the bag out of my locker (it's a top locker and I'm a short person so the struggle was real) I feel a hand on my back and Noah telling me, "Calm down, tiger."
I laugh and take a step back. He hands me my books and gets his as well. Me and Noah have been best friends since fourth grade until he moved in fifth and came back in sixth. Since then we've been super close. People mistake us for a couple a lot of times because, I'll admit it, we do flirt but we don't mean it. At least I don't think we do..
We head to the bus and make our way to the tech school. On the way there I told Noah about James.
"Yeah. Then he introduced himself. His name was James..."
"BAXTER?"
"Yes.. I'm guessing you know him?"
"Jorie, no. You can't go for that guy."
"And why not?" I ask, getting a little defensive.
"Well, first off, he's a senior. Secondly, he's a bad guy. Lastly, he just wants one thing." he explains.
I feel my face heating up. My investigative side was fixing to make an appearance. "How long ago did you find out this stuff?"
"Well, I met him about the end of summer of last year." he explains.
"Exactly, that was the past. You haven't met him now, Noah. People change. You changed. You used to be a little chick magnet."
He punches me in the arm jokingly and laughed. Noah has always been handsome. I'm not going to deny it. His adorable caramel, swishy hair, sharp jawline, and crystal eyes. He's a girls dream boy. I just like picking on him about it. Eventually, we change the subject. We got off the tech bus, went to class and met again at break. He always meets me at my classroom door, and we just stand, talk, and eat.
He brings up James again. I'm guessing it's bothering him.
"Jorie, seriously. Please, don't get involved with that guy. You're going to get hurt."
"Noah. Is it really bothering you that much?"
"Yes, Jorie! I know what he is capable of. Don't. Mess. With. Him."
"Listen, I love you, but you don't know what he's like now."
There's a brief moment of silence. Then I get a great idea.
"OH MY GOODNESS. Noah, why don't we go on a double date? You could meet him, and I could meet this girl you keep talking about. Deal?"
He hesitates but finally agrees.
"Okay. Friday night we go out to eat at The Grapevine then we can go bowling. We can meet at the Grapevine at 6:30. Ill make the reservations."
This is going to be fun..
