Broken Hearts and Broken Wings

Chapter 5

The next morning I wake up and take a nice long warm shower since I didn't last night. I get out and look into the mirror.

I look drained and pale. My dark eyes hair and wings stand out from my paleness. I dry my hair and wings and then go to my closet.

I grab a pair of black ripped skinnies and a white tank from when I was a white wing. I put my make up on and apply red lipstick. I put my hair up into an side braid.

I go to my full length mirror and look at myself after I put on my black combat boots. I look..... Weird. Wearing whit and black doesn't look good on an black wing but I don't want to seem like I can only be an black wing.

I go out of my house door and walk towards the school.

I take as long as I can because I fear the next 24 hours.

"Good morning all students!" Some person says while standing on the stage. "It is finally exam time and you as wings will need to go through every single obstacle. May I remind you that this counts for the rest of your miserable lives."

She sound so enthusiastic! Not. I think to myself trying to calm myself. It don't work.

"Each of you will have a go at this. I cannot tell you what obstacles await you sorry. "

Sure you are.

"You will go in the serum five at a time in separate landscapes. You will be in your own landscape chosen especially for you." She informs us. "No one can help you through this. You are on your own. Here are the groups. Eternity Heartfelt. Calum Heart. Alyssa Herin. James Herin. And Garret Heartbreaker. Your up."

My heart jumps to my throat as I walk slowly forward. I turn and Alyssa is pale from her natural lightly tanned skin. Calum walks as if he's getting an award and Alyssa's brother is crying. I have no idea where the other one is but once we get to the front there's only four of us.

"Garret Heartbreaker?" The lady asks once again. "No then he will automatically go to the black wings." She turns to the woman behind her and she scribbles something down on her note pad. "Lady's and gentlemen time for your exam." She says. Then she mimics Effie from the hunger games. Yes we may be creatures but we're still part human. "May the odds be ever in your favor." A cruel smile plays on her lips as we walk away.

We follow some guy to the back of the school and out the door only to be greeted an helicopter. "Get on!" He shouts pointing to it. We hesitate. "Now we don't have all day!" We pile on fastly

We ride for what seems like minutes but is actually hours. We get off and Alyssa grabs my hand and squeezes hard. "Never let go." She whispers.

"I won't."

We go under ground to an old town. "Here you go come back naughty or nice. Or just both." He says looking at Calum who just smiles.

He pushes us in and then an huge door closes. I start to hyperventilate but Calum puts his hands in my shoulder.

"Calm down it's okay." He says. We walk as a group down to the center of the town where we hear people.

Once there the people charge at is with weapons. This can't be real. This can't be real. I try and flap my wings but then I remember that they chained them together. Damnit.

I take off running with the others close by my heals. I run until I can't no more and then I fall to the ground with a thud.

"Eternity!" Alyssa screams as she runs to me and drops to her knees beside me.

"It's not real. This can't be real." I wished to myself. "We can't work together or for each other. Go Alyssa! Go!" I scream.

Tears stream her face as she disappears and the town is gone.
