Cheyenne woke up at 6:30 and used the bathroom then went downstairs to fix herself a bowl of cereal while her mom and dad were having coffee.

"Is that all you going to have this morning honey?" Her mom asked

"I think so. I still have to get dressed and brush my teeth." Cheyenne answered with a smile.

"Okay well, the bus will be here in 30 minutes." Her mom smiled.

"I'm not riding the bus, Brad's waiting for me. We're walking to school. He walks every morning and I'm going to also." Cheyenne insisted.

"Are you sure you want to do that? That's a kind walk." Her dad asks

Cheyenne says yes then explained that after walking home yesterday she felt great so they grin.

"I didn't have anyone laughing or hollering at me like I do on the bus." She insisted

"Alright then if that's what you want. Just be careful sweetie." They allowed.

Cheyenne hurried upstairs and dressed then grabbed her blue Jean jacket. Then hugged her mom saying goodbye as she ran out the door telling her dad she'd see him later. Just like Brad promised he was waiting for Cheyenne on his front porch.

"Hey girl." He said as she walked up.

"What's up Brad?" She replied back.

"Not much, just ready to get this day over. I have basketball practice after school and won't be able to walk you home today." He said.

"That's Alright, I don't need a baby sitter." She snickered.

"You could stay and watch us practice. That is if you want to?"

"Sure, I don't care. I would just be sitting at home doing nothing anyway."

But as they walked by everyone was staring or laughing at them.  She even heard Mr. Baldwin say something crass about her. Brad heard it to and turned to him calling him out on it.

"You're supposed to set the example and here you're just as bad everyone else!" He demanded

Mr. Horton the principle saw the crowd and heard the commotion so he asked what was going on.

"Why don't you ask your precious teacher? Not that he'll give your a straight answer!" Brad scoffed.

"Mr. Baldwin, do you have an explanation for this outburst?" Mr. Horton asked.

"Not really sir." Mr. Baldwin answered

"Just as I thought. Taking the cowards way out. He was talking about the new girl Cheyenne. She has a disfiguration on her face and I overheard him in the corner putting her down. He was telling the other teachers that if he was her, he'd hide his ugly face so nobody could see!"

"Is that true Mr. Baldwin?" Mr. Horton asked.

"If he says so, I guess it's true." He answers.

"That not what I asked Mr. Baldwin. I want to hear it from your own mouth. Did you say she was ugly and she should hide her face?"

"Yes, I said it and she is." He admitted

Cheyenne couldn't stand it any longer and ran outside.

"Mr. Baldwin, you have 30 minutes to pack your belongings and get off the premises. We have no tolerance for people like you. We are here to help the students. We're not here to hurt them or put them down! So in other words. YOU'RE FIRED!" Mr. Horton demanded.
