He was the perfect guy. Tall, golden skin, perfect smile--What more could a girl ask for?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was Saturday night.
I spent all day trying to figure out the perfect outfit to wear for my date tonight with Christian Richards. (My neighbor and childhood friend) He finally asked me out after years of knowing each other. For our date we plan on going to the fair, so my outfit has to be just right. Not too much, but not too little.I decided to wear my wine red crop top and black leggings, along with my off white sweater, black boots, and arrow bracelet. Totally cute/casual.
As I was putting on my makeup, my mom walks into my room.
"Ooo, Alana. What are you getting all dressed up for?"
"Nothing mom," I whined. Nothing is more embarrassing than a mom trying to get into your love life.
"Come on sweety, I was once your age too you know. So tell me, where are you going and who's the lucky guy?"
I groaned.
"Lannnaaa." My mom always loves to call me by my nickname, especially when she's angry or wants me to tell the truth. It works every time.
"Ugh fine, I'll spill. I'm going out with.....Chris.."
*Gasp* "What?! Chris? As in little Chris who used to be scared to talk to girls?"
"Ugh...yes mom....that Chris." I tried to hide my excitement by avoiding eye contact.
"Well he's hot! Are you excited" My mom exclaimed.
I nearly choked
on my gum when he said that. "Ok, first of all, hot? I don't think that's the type of vocabulary a mom should be using. Second of all, of course I'm excited!""Well, spill the tea Lana! I want all of the details. What happened? How did this start? Wasn't he dating another girl? Where is he taking you? "Is he--"
"Ok, mom. Enough with the questions," I interrupt. "I'll tell you everything. It all started Friday of last week at the football game."
***Flashback***
"Ugh, it's so cold out here," I whine to best friends London and James.
London is my right hand woman. She always has my back no matter what. She's older than me by two years but age ain't nothing but a number. She has a thing for older men, but who am I to judge? She's still my girl.
As for James, he is my MAIN man. He is literally my soul mate. If it wasn't for him being gay, we would've just ran off, eloped, and had 13 children together...lol jk. But on a serious note, James and I share everything. I'm so happy to have a friend like him in my life and wouldn't trade him for the world.
"Omg, I told you to wear a jacket," says London.
"Ugh...well how was I supposed to know it was going to be cold. It's September, we live in Texas, and it's been hot all week long," I claim.
"Yeah, key word TEXAS. You know Texas weather is bipolar. Always come prepared," states London.
"Ugh, I've had enough of you two," says James. "Here Alana, take my jacket."
"Omg! Love you James!" I reply.
After that dispute we take our seats. About 15 minutes into the games, London spots Chris.
"Look Alana! There goes Christian. Now is your chance," says London.
"My chance to do what," I question.
"Girl your chance to go sit with him! Make him notice you! Maybe flirt a little."
"No way, London. Not a chance. If he hasn't noticed me by now then what makes today any different, " I say.
"Weeeelll, I have noticed that Christian and his friends keep looking over here...and it seems like he's headed this way," says James.
"No way you guys", I say doubtfully. "Christain and I have known each other for years. If anything he's just going to come casually say hi, maybe ask about my family, and then leave. That's how it always goes."
"Mmm...ok but I'm not going to lie. You look hella fine in those jeans" James says jokingly.
"Yeah girl you do", adds in London.
"Omg, shut up you two. Now scram, he's getting close," I demand.
Shortly after they leave, Christian makes his way on over to me and sits down.
"Hey, Skittles", says Christain.
When we were little I would always eat skittles and Christain used to always eat pop rocks.
"Hey, Pop Rocks", I reply.
"So, how are you liking the game so far," he asks.
"Oh, the game is ok... It's really fun being with my friends, but did you really come over here to ask me about the football game? Sorry for being so straightforward, but other than a casual 'hi or bye' you and I haven't in spoken in years. So, what's the catch?", I asked in full confidence.
"Ok fine, you've caught me red handed. I actually came over here because I wanted to catch up with you. We haven't spoken in forever and I miss our friendship. How about we meet up Wednesday after school and get a coffee," Christain says.
"Wow, ok sure!" I respond.
"Ok cool. I'll see you Wednesday."
***Flashfoward***
"Ok, so you two met up on Wednesday to catch up. So how did that lead to a date?" Asked my mom with full interest.
"Ok, so we met on Wednesday and we just hit it off instantly. After talking and laughing for about an hour, Christian spontaneously asked me out. Believe me, I was as shocked as you are right now when he first asked," I explained.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so excited for you lovely! Well, let me help you get dressed," my mother exclaims.
"Ok, Thanks mom!"
