Prologue: The Sign

"It's appeared! The sign!" Amilei spoke, awe in her voice at the impossible yet obvious light before her.

"But, it has yet to be over ten centuries! What can this mean?" Her apprentice, Helda, was perplexed at such impossibility. No such thing has ever happened in the witches' recorded history.

"It can only mean one thing my dear. It means that this Oracle shall be stronger than the last."

"But-but...that is impossible! Draken was the strongest of them all! He even foretold that there would be none more greater than he!" Amilei let out a loud cackle, her face looking sinister in the ominous light coming from her crystal ball. Helda was confused, what did her master know that she did not?

"You, my dear apprentice, had never met Draken before he passed. If you had, you would have known that he was arrogant, self-centered, and spoiled brat to the core. He was a rotten man, and his predictions didn't always come true. But what made him greater than the others before him, all those that never made a full and completely accurate prediction, was that all of his predictions and prophecies were at least half-true. Most of his predecessor's predictions never came true at all. For even the smallest and most unimportant choice, could change the future like that." She snapped her fingers, the sound echoing throughout their lair, giving a dramatic effect.

"Draken was unable to look at a person's future, personality, and current decisions to lead them down the right path, and give a prediction that completely came true. But then again so did his predecessors." Helda listened and put the pieces together in her own mind. "But Draken was right occasionally-" Helda finished her mentor's sentence, "-unlike his predecessors."

"Exactly!"

"But you mean to say, that this new Oracle may have the power, the foresight, to be wholly and completely accurate? That their predictions will come true, entirely?"

Amilei smiled widely, causing shivers to run involuntarily down Helda's spine.

"Yes, my young apprentice. That is exactly what I mean."

Just a small taste of what is to come. I hope it set the setting as I hoped it would.
