Authors Note:

I had this story up on Quizilla when I still had my account on there, but since I'm no longer on that site and I missed writing this story, I decided to re-write it on Wattpad. I hope you all enjoy it. The cover is temporary, it fits what I imagine the story to be, if someone can make a better cover, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, I do not own any of J.K. Rowlings original characters, only Athena DiAngelo, her mother, her father, and the doctors of the Laboratory are mine.

Prologue:

The woman watched in horror as the men in white approached her, she didn't know what they wanted, but then again, how could she. She was born deaf, so their words meant nothing to her, despite the fact that she could read lips. What do they want from me? She thought to herself, stepping away from them and into her husband's arms. What gene do I possess? What are they talking about? she thought, trying to make sense of the words that they were saying. All she knew was that they wanted her, her and the unborn child growing inside her.

The man leading the group stepped forward, brandishing a polished stick, a wand, though the woman couldn't know that. He was tall and thin, and his face was covered by a horrific mask; all she knew was that he had platinum blond hair, a color that she deeply envied herself. This woman's hair was a deep auburn, which contrasted nicely against her pale skin, and it brought out her eyes. Her eyes drew him in, and he nearly forgot the entire reason he came to this pathetic muggle town in America, the woman's eyes were naturally a deep and entrancing amber. No, they weren't a golden brown that could be called amber, but true amber, an amber that held a touch of orange in them as well, her husband often remarked that they looked like a hawk's eyes. The woman's husband stepped in front of her, he knew exactly what that stick could do, for he was another wizard, like the man aiming the powerful weapon at his wife. The husband narrowed his eyes at the blond man, silently cursing him, though he dared not reach for his own wand. His wife didn't know that he was more than just a human, but he knew what gene lay in her DNA, he knew why these men wanted her, and he would do anything to protect the woman he loved and the daughter she was carrying.

"Don't be a fool Carl, you knew that we would find you and your wife." The platinum blond said, stepping towards Carl and his wife. Carl took a step back, blocking his wife from view, the other men stayed quiet.

"Lucius, I will not give up my child or wife for some crackpot plan of the dark lord's. It just isn't right, and it's the reason I left England in the first place." Carl all but growled at the man, his hand moving towards the pocket in his jeans where his own wand was carefully hidden. His wife said nothing, surprised that her husband knew this man.

"You know what will happen if you and your wife don't cooperate, and I don't want that to happen, we used to be friends Carl." Lucius said, a slight glimmer of regret in his eyes. He really didn't want to have to kill his friend, but if Carl and Mrs. DiAngelo didn't cooperate, they would both be killed. A sigh escaped Lucius' lips as he saw the determination in his old friends eyes, and he lifted his wand. Before Carl could even reach his wand, Lucius had used the killing curse to silence him forever.

"I'm sorry old friend, but you know that I will not disobey the dark lord." Lucius whispered before turning his wand on Mrs. DiAngelo. A whispered word, a jet of red light, and the woman fell to the floor. She wasn't dead, Lucius couldn't kill her just yet, but she wasn't going to wake up anytime soon.

Lucius glared at the unconscious woman, his lip lifting in a feral snarl, she was the reason that he had killed his friend. He didn't see her as Carl had, she wasn't the red-haired goddess that his friend had claimed. She was the reason that Carl had left England and she was the reason that Lucius was ordered to kill him. They had grown up together, closer than brothers, they were raised together. He motioned one of his companions over to him,

"Pick her up and take her to the laboratory, I will meet you there after I speak with the dark lord." Lucius said, quickly apparating from the location. He went straight to his mansion where the dark lord was waiting for him, avoiding his wife and his unborn son

"The deed is done my lord, Goyle is taking the woman to the labs as we speak." Lucius said, bowing to the man standing in front of him.

This man was not someone that Lucius was interested in betraying, he was to powerful for that and Lucius believed in everything that this man preached.

"Good job Lucius, now go to the labs and make sure that those wretched muggles don't do anything wrong. They are to take the embryo and place it in one of their containment tubes and raise it until I say it's mature enough. Once they take the embryo from the woman, kill her, but don't let them know how it happened." The man hissed, he sounded and looked like a snake. Lucius lifted his lip in a sneer, he disliked muggles almost more than his master did, but they needed these particular muggles, they were experts in the field of genetics, and they weren't adverse to tweaking with the genes of an unborn child. Lucius bowed to the man and left, once again, apparating out of the room with a loud crack.

Lucius arrived at the muggle laboratory and was immediately admitted into the room where they were keeping the woman. She was still unconscious, but he noticed that the muggle doctors had taken the embryo from her body and it was now floating in a tank of light blue liquid. It was barely developed, only three months along, but it was large enough to have all sorts of wires and tubes attached to it. He didn't ask what they were for, he didn't care, he just wanted to make sure that it was developing properly. The gene that the woman carried was very recessive, and it would take a lot more of that gene to make sure that it came out in the child. Lucius had three needles with him, each one filled with a substance containing something that the dark lord had collected and chosen for this special creation. He looked back over at the unconscious woman, making sure that no one would see him, and he killed her with a silent word, though the flash of green light drew the attention of the scientists. They turned to look at him, and he merely glared and withdrew the three syringes filled with different genes.

"Your employer wants you to add these genes to the child once the embryo is big enough." Lucius said, not bothering to tell them what was in it. The younger doctor was curious, but he stayed silent, it wasn't his job to question his employers. They took the syringes and nodded, placing them on a table nearby and writing a note that told them when to use the syringes. Lucius left, his part of the job was over, but he couldn't help but feel some concern for the child in the tank, after all, she was his son's future wife. The agreement had been made long before his son or Carl's daughter had ever been born. They had agreed that, if they ever had children, Carl's daughter or son would marry Lucius' daughter or son, and as luck would have it, Lucius had a son and Carl had a daughter. Sure, his son was a few months older than her, but that wasn't a big deal. He arrived at his home and changed out of his work robes before heading down to the dining room to eat. He wouldn't know the fate of the child for fifteen years, until the fifteenth aniversary of when he killed his friend and stole his unborn daughter.
