----------------------------------------------------
I'm in my 3rd year of college and as much as writing is still my passion and all, I cant help but feel I've lost my motivation. The last 3 years have had so many ups and downs I feel like I've been on all the rides at six flags...twice. I mean I lost who I thought was the love of my life, all because she couldn't keep her legs closed. I know how cliché it is, but I didn't feel whole when I lost her, and I've spent a lot of time trying to pick the right parts of me that would make me Selena again, not Selena and Taylor. Me and Tori have barely been making rent most months so I've been job hunting like crazy, anything that would help us make ends meet. Like hell am I gonna put all this effort into college to have to drop out at the last second.
"Hm, Frankie's Deli is hiring." Tori said as I brought coffees down to where she was looking at the job page in the paper.
"Okay I know I'm desperate but I don't like the idea of smelling like salami all day." I cringed.
"Alright, good point. That restaurant Tyler took me to, 'De la Garza's' is looking for wait staff, the food was amazing and think of the discount you can share with your best friend." She winked.
"That actually doesn't sound too bad, number>" I asked putting my coffee down and pulling my phone out of my pocket.
"555-0138." Tori spoke as I dialled.
"De le Garza's bar and restaaunt, Demi speaking how can I help?" I heard a raspy voice through the phone.
"Hi, I saw your advert looking for wait staff and I was wondering if I could speak to the owner." I said biting my lip nervously.
"Well that's me lovely, I take it your interested.?" She asked.
"Yeah I was wondering how to go about getting the job."
"Well why don't you come to the restaurant for 10 is tomorrow before we open and I can really get to know you..." She trailed off.
"Oh! Selena." I laughed realising I hadn't even told her my name.
"Okay Selena, I'll see you in the morning." She chuckled on the other end of the phone.
"Uh thankyou so much, oh my god, see you then." I said as I grinned at an awaiting Tori.
"So?" She asked hopefully.
"I have an interview with the owner tomorrow!" I squeaked.
It was the next morning and I found myself in my underwear looking at my closet frustrated. What the hell do you wear to an interview for a wait job? I don't wanna go in sweat pants obviously but I'm not gonna whip on my finest cocktail dress.
After my own personal fashion show and about 12 different outfits strung across my room. I finally settled on black skinny jeans, a white button down blouse and some ankle boots. I felt okay so it's a start.
"Tori can you give me a ride? You know this place better than I do." I said with puppy dog eyes as Tori watched TV.
"You owe me one, it's not just anyone who I let interrupt my pretty little liars marathons, now I'm gonna have to wait to see if A texts them again." She smirked as she grabbed her shoes.
"Not my fault you're late to the PLL party." I giggled.
"Hey! You want a ride or not?" She scoffed holding up her keys.
"Yes pweaseee." I smiled.
"You're lucky I love you." She glared as we made it down to her car.
She dropped me off at 9:55 so I just got out assuming the owner would be around. But I found myself waiting for 20 minutes before a woman in black jeans and a white v- neck t-shirt came stumbling down the steps still buttoning her jeans.
"Oh my gosh! I am soo sorry I overslept, you're Selena right?" She sighed blowing her brown hair out of her face.
"Yeah that's me! Don't worry about it I do it all the time." I laughed still trying to make a good impression.
"Well I'm Demi, let's go inside." She smiled, she looked so adorable when she did that. She fumbled with her keys before dropping them and groaning. "Damn, today is not my day."
Once she got the right key she took us in and turned on all the lights. The place was cute, the perfect authentic little Italian restaraunts, the little round tables with red gingham cloths, candles everywhere. This place really gave off the perfect homey vibe. Demi took us to her office in the back and as we sat down I saw a photo of her and I'm assuming her dad at her graduation. Both with that face eating grin. I awkwardly fumbled with my own fingers as she looked for a paper pad and pen, constantly apologising.
Once she finally found pen and paper she sighed and smiled as me.
"Okay, so full name?"
"Selena Marie Gomez." I groaned at my own middle name.
"That's a lovely middle name." She smiled sweetly making me blush. "So you're interested in being apart of the wait staff?" She asked.
"Yeah, I could really use the extra cash, college and rent and stuff is really kicking my ass." I laughed.
"I understand that I actually worked at my dads first restaurant while I was in school, just out of curiosity what are you studying?" She asked leaning forward on the desk.
"English, I know its cliché but I love to write and I'd love to make something of myself by showing people what I can do, and if that doesn't work out I'm thinking stripper." I laughed before realising who I was talking to. " Oh my god I didn't mean for it to come out like that." I said as I put my head in my hands.
"Don't worry about it, I like someone with humour, but maybe if writing doesn't work out you could keep on your job as a waiter rather than stripping?" She smirked as I realised what she was getting at.
"Oh my god really?! Thankyou so much!" I squealed jumping out of my seat. As she stood up.
"You seem like a great girl Selena and I'd be happy to get to know you just let me know when you can start." She smiled simply.
"As soon as my weekend is free."
"In that case, how about you stick around and help me prep the restaurant for opening, I can show you the ropes and get to know you a little better?" She proposed leaning on her desk.
"That sounds great, but promise you'll go easy on me?" I asked.
"I'm always easy on people, unless they ask otherwise." She winked making me blush as she led me back through her restaurant.
I was excited to work my first proper job, but way more excited to get to know my boss.....n
